Our founding fathers....did they get it right when they envisioned how the United States government should be and how we as a people should live together?
I personally am a big fan of James Madison, yet I want to know how you feel about it. Are we as a country going in the right direction or in the wrong direction as a people? |

I think the government is way way outside the constitutional boundaries envisioned by the founding fathers.

I agree with you o.h. on the other hand we are also a much greater
nation than any of our founding fathers could have possibly imagined. I think we are stumbling along in the right general direction. It pains me to see all the needless internecine bickering and gridlock in DC. The budget standoff last year in particular left a bad aftertaste. The idiots threatened our creditors with default on our obligations solely to make a pointless futile gesture. This was a stupidity that our founding fathers would have certainly castigated. Now again they are threatening more wasteful pointless grandstanding rather than dealing with our real and pressing economic and social issues. It is the time for cold and rational compromises and swift surgical economic action to maintain our jobs, productivity, progress and leadership. Where are our Madisons, our Jeffersons, our Franklins? Our country longs for inspiring leaders who will amaze us again with their stamina, wisdom, bravery and acumen! Step forward those of you who can and will truly lead. There is a future out there wilder than the frontier and begging for the next American like Theodore Roosevelt. ![]() |
