The climb was almost like floating eyes closed, weightless, breezy…. Stopping along the way to taste something sweet, touch soft things, smell clean linen… Straining to hear whispered promises... Filtered moonlight impossible to read by, to beautiful to ignore, a color with no name reminding her of sorbet melting on her tongue… Tense, rising to meet the occasion, wearing only an iridescent gown of perfect fitting flesh…. Shooting stars added to the splendor... Up, up, she climbed never once looking down. Until the free fall came, jolting, like every rude awakening…. © 2012 |
