btw i'm using a LB-Link 54 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter to connect,if that helps any

Something you might try is re-installing the driver for you network interface device / adapter. Usually drivers are the easiest to find as far as technical google searches go ( I program in Java and often very technical things can be ambiguous to say the least). But as far as drivers go...usually pretty easy especially the more specific you are about NIC/ network adapter make and model and motherboard lap-top model ect..

You said you re-installed the OS so this may not be the problem. Although a driver will probably help improve it and might fix it altogether.

here... I found the manufacturer's web-site...this will take you right to the page for the driver download... I am not sure which one you'll need..

http://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/?model=TL-WN350G&version=V1#tbl_a

This link was different then when I visited it the first time..different sets of downloads though still the drivers your looking at...

I suspect it is simply too slow. I use a Netgear 900 ( $60 capable of 450/450 Mbps), tried a 150 Mbps and it was slow. Have you access to a faster one to try it out? Also, your system is as fast as the slowest system using it.

It's just what you described, to me, is slowness. Spider and I think slowhand seem to keep up with this stuff.

EDIT: Was typing when mirage answered...

to be honest,i don't know much about internet speeds and stuff but the guy at the store i bought it from said the speed the adapter says it can handle really doesn't matter because the fastest speed we can get around here is about 2 mb because i was trying to but a 300 mb adapter but he sold this one to me because it was cheaper

When I worked in IT wi-fi was just a blurb in the texts so I am "new" to it as well.

As of 2010, 3G mobile broadband can reach speeds of up to 1.5 megabits (Mbps) per second. Saying this, I don't know if mine really works at 450 or not, I know the "speed" monitor never gets that high.

I do know that for modems, faster is better. Maybe mirage/slowhand/or spider will be on and can help. sorry.

Mmmmm, can't really help without experience. Like I said, spidercmb, slowhand and others will probably log in in a few and be able to give some ideas. Sorry.

Can you run a diagnostic? Connect to your router then on the bottom left of your screen where you see your signal strength right click that. Go to your network and sharing center. You should see your router under where it says connect and disconnect. It's on the right in the middle. Right click and it should have a diagnostic or something option. Let's us know the errors it gives you. You might not be set you to person an IP automatically. That could be the problem. I had a recent problem and had to move it to a new pci slot and it fixed it.
