Isn't pac-man a video game? Man, I'm getting old! :P |

It's TNA. Man, I wish they'd quit trying to be a low-rent WWE and start playing to their own strengths. They have at least 12 guys on their roster that are better than ANYBODY in WWE.
Summerslam World Title Match: Great Khali vs Batista. Rumor has it they were gonna make convicted criminals watch that match as punishment, but the courts decided that doing so would be akin to illegal torture. |

Saw where Jeff Fisher put the kibosh on this, saying that it would be a violation of Pacman's contract. That's too bad, because I have already booked Pacman's match, complete with scripted ending:
Pacman Jones vs Donkey Kong Donkey Kong wins when he hits Pacman with one of those barrels he's always throwing at Mario. |

i was wondering about that knoxman. in todays age of contracts alot of players are'nt allowed to scratch their ass for fear of injury.

Saw it in today's Nashville Tennesseean, king. I think he could still do something non-physical, butseriously, why does TNA want him? This is exactly the kind of thing they don't need. Pacman won't mean one extra buy for them. There's no upside for TNA with this. When WWE did an angle with Mike Tyson, that worked because Tyson is a million times more of a mainstream name than Pacman. No one outside of Nashville cares about him. Hell, Most people IN Nashville don't care about him. TNA can(and should be doing) MUCH better than this.

you know how it is though with publicity. i don't know if they'd sell more tickets or not but it got them mentioned in a bunch of t.v. and print.

Just saw on the Wrestling Observer web site that Titans officials were meeting with Jeff Jarrett ot try and work out some sort of compromise. Maybe just do a pull-apart or something like that. The problem is where do you go after that. You can't build up to anything further. Like I said before, TNA needs to quit trying to be a low-rent WWE.
Recent signings include Dustin Rhodes, Test, Matt Morgan. They are strongly considering dropping the X Division title. You tell me what direction they're going in. |

sounds like they are tryin to keep their head above water.
dustin rhodes, is he related to dusty rhodes? |

Dustin is Dusty's son. He's used the stage name "Dustin Runnels". He's far better known as Goldust.

A compromise was met Saturday. Pacman can appear on the PPV, but cannot do ANYTHING that could even remotely cause injury. I repeat my speech from a previous post: What's the upside to signing Pacman? The mentions on ESPN are nice, but if buyrates don't increase, what's the point? That's just money flushed down the toilet. Look, I really hate to sound negative here, but I'm dismayed at the amount of potential TNA has squandered away. Examples:
1-The X-Division, once the calling card of the company, has not only been reduced to a laughingstock, but, according to TNA officials, is on the verge of being phased out altogether. 2-When Samoa Joe first arrived, fans really rallied around him, they saw him as the real deal. His TNA career has been as badly mismanaged as Bret Hart's was in WCW. Now rumors persist that Joe has been talking with WWE officials. Which leads into... 3-TNA repeatedly breaks their figurative necks in a mad rush to sign ANYBODY who at one time worked for WWE. What makes this worse is that all those signings are given prominent pushes ahead of much better, and loyal, workers. And before anyone writes and says, "But they're a drawing card", let me stop them with this:No one is a drawing card in TNA. The former WWE guys they're signing(with the possible exception of Kurt Angle)never drew a dime or a ratings point when they were in WWE, much less anywhere else. 4-Any good act not created by WWE is phased out ASAP. America's Most Wanted were a good team, but the had ran it's course. I'm referring to A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels as a tag team(in my opinion, the best team in TNA history). Put together, and broken up within a 4 month period. LAX, the most popular team now, has been regulated to a jobber team. Jay Lethal, given the "Black Machismo" gimmick, actually worked hard to get it over-and he did. His reward? His push was totally stopped. There's plenty of other examples, that I won't go into right now. 5-Writer Vince Russo, and to a slightly less extent, Jeff Jarrett, are completely smitten with WWE, to the point they want to BE WWE. They've given up on what makes them unique. If people have a choice, they'll watch the original instead of a 3rd rate knock-off. Example: In the 80s, The A-Team was a wildly popular show. Everyone rushed their knockoff shows to air, trying to ride the wave. They failed miserably. Like I said earlier, I did'nt want to be negative. The first few years of TNA, I watched religiously. Now, I simply read the results on wrestling websites. TNA is doing nothing to get me to invest an hour of my life to watch them. And that's a shame. When the Carter's finally decide to quit hemmoraging money into TNA with no hope of return on investment, causing TNA to fold, the company'll have no one to blame but themselves. And we'll be stuck with the horses*** that the McMahons foist on us on a weekly basis. knoxman Sad wrestling fan |
