reason someone insisted they had to chat with you in Yahoo messenger? I got someone who was paranoid that "Mingle owned any chats". That was not true of messages but they "owned chats" and could quote them if you had a success, etc. Oh and that the mods had nothing better to do than sit around and watch people chat. If that's true, I must have them BORED TO DEATH and their corpses are operating the site on auto pilot. Because my chats usually go:

"What do you do for a living?

I don't tell strangers that.

Do you live alone?

I don't tell strangers that.

What is you email?

I don't tell strangers that.

Want to Yahoo chat?

Why?

What is your yahoo chat name?

What's yours?

Are you going to chat me?

Probably not".

Okay actually the grammar and spelling is much worse. They also ask about children. They usually divulge that they are not in this country as listed. The new cool thing is to be on peace keeping mission in Af.

If you think someone is a scammer, report and block immediately, never respond to them.

I prefer YahooIM or Facebook to talk to people, but I guess that should probably come after a time of knowing the person in the forums or mingle email.

For a cat, you do not like to bat mice around much. That is all on Mingle. I don't often go off Mingle and still I bat and bat the mice around. It's a sick thing I do.

A male scammer contacted me on Yahoo email on time. I proposed having a homosexual relationship with him in great detail. He quickly lost interest in my bank account information and cut off all contact. Broke my heart...

For the record, I have never in all my busts gotten up to bank account information. You asked me for money that's enough to report you on here or to the feds.

Though I did run away to Texas with someone I barely knew but he is really not a horrible person. It was one big dumb azz decision made by two big dumb azz grown ups who didn't know what they were getting into.

;) I don't play with spammers and scammers. I've been the victim of ID theft personally, and have had scammers steal others ID to obtain services from me.

It's not a good idea to interact with spammers and scammers, even if you don't think you're giving them any information. It's best just to report and block.

You are right. That would also cut me conversations on Mingle down to about 10%. It takes a few minutes to determine someone is a scammer.

Trust your gut, let the website admin determine if they are scammers or not.

I can't honestly remember. I'm wary of people who ask me for my email address if I haven't spoken with them in the forums first. Asking for my email, after the first 'Hi' is a stretch too far me thinks. Why would I want to chat with someone/or know what to even talk about on Yahoo, Hotmail, when I know not much about them? What could we possibly have to talk about without talking on the Mingle2 emails first? After all, that's why we have inboxes here on Mingle2. I see no reason to take conversation away from this website. Unless we've been talking for quite a while on here first.

Precisely, and even after talking on here for a while, there's no need to give out such information. I could see maybe giving out your Facebook or other social site info after developing a relationship of some sort, but even with that stuff, be careful.
