Are you talking about real football, or that game in the USA that is called "football" by Americans? Are you talking about real beer, or that stuff made in the USA that Americans call "beer"? An "American" would be referring to "American beer and American Football" Mingle2 is an international website, and plenty of its members live outside the USA. So, when someone here says "football", people outside the USA may easily think of this kind of ball:
