I recently had surgery on my chest (lump) and now they say not to strain or exert for four to six weeks.
How will this affect me when I can lift weights again, can I continue where I am weight wise or do I need to back off a bit and build back to where I am currently? |

A perfect question for your doctor or physical therapist.

Cut back as you will still be in a recovery phase but make a plan to get back on track.
4-6 weeks down = 4-6 weeks to get back to where you were. And really take it easy the first week or two. |

Best of luck in your recovery !depends on how invasive your surgery was. Def ask your doc but as a therapist we push people to the limit...

It all depends how deep they went. I had those two catheters put THROUGH my rib cage and while it does not limit my movement, the RN said it would be a good 2 years before the tissue forgave me. You chest is your first line of defense protecting your heart and lungs. It screams bloody murder when it's violated. Talk to your doctor. I am not limited but every so often my rib cage screams at me.
