I'm sure that unless you consciously looked at your table to check out different patterns on it, you wouldn't have a clue.

All of these things happen to me because I wasn't paying attention to it even though my senses detected it. There was no sign of a "subconscious mind" committing information into memory.

I've tried subliminal learning as well as by many other scientists, and tests show absolutely no retention level at all. I think the only reason people still use the claim that messages can directly move into our subconscious mind and change us is because we don't really know what a "subconscious mind" is. It's much like how many physicists as Neil De Grasse Tyson described, use different dimensions as an excuse for phenomena they don't understand. It's also how many religions use paradoxes to prevent people from questioning because it's a futile and endless procedure.

I didn't read any of the comments but yes, I agree.

There's isn't enough concrete evidence to back it up. There are statistics that show an increase in sales due to what they claim is subliminal message, but people can consciously see the flashed advertisement. If they can see it at all, then it's no longer subliminal.

Different shapes and colors can have different effects on people.

Fast food restaurants use bright yellows oranges, reds, etc. because it encourages people to eat.

Grocery stores put the dairy products, bread, etc. in the back so that you walk around the store and see more items to buy, they also keep the temperature at a certain level and play certain music to help encourage people to stay and shop.

Those tactics seem to work pretty well.

I think we are debating based on different definitions of subliminal messages. This definition/explanation I got from Wikipedia explains how I understand it:
"A subliminal message is a signal or message embedded in another medium, designed to pass below the normal limits of the human mind's perception. These messages are unrecognizable by the conscious mind, but in certain situations can affect the subconscious mind"

As far as I can tell, things like colors, shapesm or music (without words) directly influences our emotions, but there isn't a secondary message embedded in it, therefore it's not a subliminal message.

What would be considered a subliminal message is if sounds such as "I want to buy a hamburger" were played very quietly during a commercial. That becomes the second message which we can't consciously hear but if we can hear it, it is no longer a subliminal message. These subliminal, messages have been proven to be ineffective which is why I say subliminal messages don't work.
