Why is Iran pursuing Nuclear Energy with such single minded haste...

They must know weapons will result in a sure and swift end to any future plans so I must discount all the talk of weapons (yet I understand that the research will lead to such).

What could be another reason for an oil producing country to proceed in such haste to obtain a different energy source.

Is the oil less than the rest of the world believes?

It is possible that Iran is sucking the bottom of the well and KNOWS IT?

almost all of their electricity is produced by gas..

Gas as in Natural Gas?

or Gas as in derived from oil?
