I hate to read so I always wait for the movie.

There's a lot of excellent books that still have, and may never get film adaptations, won't knock ya for not liking to read, but you're missing out on some good stuff.

Reminds me of my brother, who has an exceptionally high IQ.

He's an avid reader, but refuses to watch foreign films because he doesn't wanna read the subtitles.

A friend of mine says if he wants to read he'll go to the library.

I've watched so many subtitled movies over the years it's become second nature to me...BUT there are times when the subtitles are hard to read if there is a lot of bright backgrounds...or if it's from a lower end company the subtitles have lots of typos. Other than that it doesn't bother me at all.

I hear ya. I've gotten used to them over the years as well. And there are a few that actually incorporate the subtitles to go with the film. One good example is "Nightwatch".

There are rare instances where dubbed is better than subtitled....Pieces was finally released with the original language subtitled version, but it didn't have all the hilarious dialogue the dubbed version had. But I would definitely rather read what the actor's are saying, than listen to bad dubbing if I want to enjoy the movie as a non-comedy.

Yeah. I tried watching a few films dubbed in English (with the subtitles still on). They never seem to match up. You're right. It is rather amusing though. Especially the Asian ones.
