Hundreds of people are flocking to a field in Pattingham in Austria after a mysterious perfectly round hole appeared overnight, leading down to a metallic construction 25-foot underground.

Farmer Franz Knoglinger, 47, discovered the hole while looking for his missing cat and after a report on local television he was flooded with curious visitors, as well as geologists, archaeologists and even UFO experts.

He said: "I was looking for our family cat Murlimann when I noticed the hole. I didn't know how deep it was then so I dropped the stone down there, and heard a metallic clunk.

"From the time it took for the stone to reach the bottom I realised it was very deep.

"I managed to get a big magnet which I dangled down there and it clearly fastened onto something at the bottom - so there is something large and metallic about down there. It also sounds as if there is a hollow space around about whatever the metal object is - it sounds as if there is a room underneath."

He said they needed 25 foot of rope to lower the magnet down and the local plumber who had tried to use a special camera to view the object had failed to get an image.

He said: "There seem to be disturbance on the line - maybe it was some sort of electrical field. Either way the camera didn't bring a good result."

Archaeologists suggested the hole could have been left by a wooden timber from an underground burial chamber that had rotted away.

Locals speculated it might have been a bomb as the area had been heavily targeted during the war.

But alien watchers have also been attracted by the find and are speculating about a buried spacecraft.

One man had even turned up with a sandwich board and the words "Beware - The Doorway to Hell".

Geologists from the local council are expected to visit the site on Monday to carry out further tests.

In the meantime the family cat has appeared again, she had been sleeping in an airing cupboard at the family farm and the door had been closed - shutting her in

I think it is in Australia, not in Austria!

An Australian Farmer Was Looking For His Lost Cat When He Found A Hole In The Ground He Thinks Has A UFO Inside!
brian By: Cadillac Cruz | 4 days ago

More than 500 people flocked to an Australian farmer’s home after coming across what he calls a UFO buried in the ground.

An Australian farmer named Franz Knoglinger, 47, was looking for his runaway cat in an open field by his home when he came across a huge hole in the ground.

Knoglinger could not see the bottom of this massive hole and wanted to see just how deep it was. He threw a rock down and he heard what he described as a “metallic clunk.”

Thinking there was a metal object down there he went and got a big magnet and dangled it down the hole, Knoglinger said the magnet did attach to something at the bottom of the hole.

Knoglinger also said there is a hollow sound inside of the hole, as if there is room around the metal object or some room underneath it. So he called a local plumber out to his property to see if he could help him figure out what was inside of the hole. When the plumber lowered a camera down as soon as it came close to the object the camera shut off. Knoglinger thinks its “from some sort of magnetic field.”

When the locals and the surrounding area found out about what Knoglinger had found rumors started flying around what they think it could be. People are saying its a malfunctioned bomb, or possibly some sort of air or space craft. Although local archeologist think that some wood has rotted away from a collapsed underground tunnel. Geologist have heard about what people have been saying and want to see for themselves, they are said to be visiting the site soon.

Oh and by the way….. Knoglinger did find his runaway cat!

I wonder if that's Alice's hole to Wonderland.

No tree...

I also am wondering why no followup.

where are all the scientists with their endless explanitions that it was but a 'mud hole' or some such thing?

I don't know. Please research this and report back with your findings ASAP.

Man looking for missing cat stumbles on buried 'UFO'
The case in Austria stumped many until a local historian decided to do a bit of digging — not in the dusty field but in the local land-use archives. It turns out the hole had not appeared overnight as Knoglinger assumed, but had been there for decades. In fact, a half-century ago an oil company had drilled there looking for oil. A large metal drill bit became stuck and broke before workers could find anything, so they left the drill bit at the bottom of the hole and never bothered to fill it in. That's what attracted the magnet dropped down to the bottom: not a spaceship but a large metal bit stuck in rock.

I still think its the rabbit hole to Wonderland.
