im not sure if this would be anything like the same. i had a old bf that had talked about being frozen when he would die as to find evidence of health of why he or others have died and use that for science. and to do the research as to help others. i guess it could be the same in some ways

I see someone has nominated this for deletion based on 'wrong forum'. I think this is better under 'religion', BUT this is his first post. Making someones 'first post' thread disappear does more harm then good - IMO, so I'm abstaining from the vote.
--------- To answer the question - yes of course true clones are equal to non-clones in the soul department. True clones are like natural twins, twins who are fertilized 'in vitro' people. Do you doubt that twins have souls? Or that the many 'test tube babies' in the world today have souls? People are talking about using cloning technology to produce organs for transplant. This does not involve making a 'true clone' of a person, and is an extension of the idea of 'cell cultured skin grafts' which we already do. |

timmy and massage-this is a fascinating topic. Look how the idea of clones was treated in the sci-fi movie "The Island"-as though they had no souls, no rights. Basically treated as slaves that were being grown as replacement parts.
If a clone were grown and raised totally secluded from society-would a soul emerge? Tabula raza anyone? |
Nope...Tabula Raza I feel is a groundless theory. Sure you would have to teach them the basics of living, but a human clone is just a brother of a test tube mother, so they would totally have souls.

Nusalor,
If a normal human baby were grown and raised totally secluded from society-would a soul emerge? |
Massage-I asked you first!
Tomokun-I agree on the uselessness of Tabula Raza-18th century thought is definitely ancient. |

Nusalor,
I deliberately answered the OP by stating equality of soulfulness. I don't care how you answer the question, but I would insist both questions are answered the same way. Keeping in mind, of course, that the OP set the stage by be using 'clone' specifically in the sense that Dolly was cloned. |
>> Massage-I asked you first!
Oh, wait... were you saying that you agree the two questions are identical? I didn't see that possibility before... |
Then my answer to you massage, as well as the OP-is that I believe a soul to be the essential part of being alive...no matter how life begins.
We are all born with a sense of something grater than what the physical world represents to us. This is the difference between the phenomenal world and the noumenal world-a Romantic view to be sure...but one that includes the possibility of the soul being eternal. |
