there have been a few that have gone unanswered, but i don't worry about them, mainly cuz if im not good enough to talk to...would i want anything to do with them?

Meh, I do not get e-mail hardly at all. It is kinda sad and pathetic really. But eh, it just go along with my life....lol

I don't know what it is, really -- almost everybody I've corresponded with on JSH has been very receptive, and now there are a whole bunch of people here who I exchange e-mails with, and do IMs with, all the time.

But nobody local.

That's why I don't think those "New Match" pics are real people; they are just deceptively lifelike paintings of people who never really existed! (And who don't reply to e-mail.)

there is one guy who's profile says he's from here, but i know other wise, he's from the next town over...

When I set up my match preferences, I set it to within 150 miles, in the hopes I could find someone reasonably local to talk to.

But the people who want to talk to me are all from Canada and New York and California and Texas and Pennsylvania and Europe and everywhere but around here....

Basically, I made a huge mistake when, after my divorce was finalized, I moved to where I am now (almost 2 years ago) on the advice of a friend who said this would be "a great place to work on a book." Which turned out to be true, for what it's worth, but it's not a "great place" for anything else.

So, I was HOPING I could find some more-or-less locals here....but no such luck....

So have you worked on your book since it is "a great place to work on a book"?

Yeah, the book is done (being prepped for submission to a specific publisher right now, they CLAIM to be interested, we shall see) -- and the SECOND one (short stories, poems, etc., some of which relate to the first book) is almost done. I'm working on the last short story now.

Come to think of it, I have posted two chapters from the book here, several of the poems, and at least one of the short stories. Although that was awhile back!
