Cycling in the trade winds... or just overcycling

Me too! Thanks. I refrained from riding this week (well, except for about 60 miles) and will see what next week is like.

Not yet. I had myself scheduled for an organized one today, but decided it imprudent. I'm expecting to do one next month in the Vegas area. So far my longest day has been 83.

Granted. It has mysterious black flecks.

I wish someone would turn down the thermostat in the big blue room about 5 degrees.

OMG...that is awesome. I'm thinking about doing one sometime next year. I hear the training is brutal!!

Granted, but it will keep going down 5 degree per minute until the room turns to ice.

I wish the weekend wasn't almost over.

I don't think it's that brutal. Some said I was overdoing it, but until this week, I would have disagreed. I've lost 30 lbs in the past 3 months, but that was by design -- I easily could have eaten more :)

If you're current pic is recent, I'd say with an active winter and 8 or 9 weeks of training in the spring you'd easily be able to do it. A lot less if you're more active than my almost completely sedentary self of 3 months ago ;)

Yea, I've trained for other things before. But the biking is really hard on the back and arse! Plus, I've wiped out on my bike before and that's no fun at all.

Well... the back issue might be manageable with weight training, but if you sail or row, I'd think your back should be okay. I'm not sure there is a cure for the other :|

True. But sailing and rowing you are using various muscle groups. I can't imagine sitting and peddling a bike for that many miles!

The limited range of positions is definitely the worst aspect.

Granted. It seems the ambient temperature is well above it's melting point, so it is spread in a rather thin film more or less everywhere.

Granted. The earth tilts a couple degrees (what was that about banishing a season?) and it remains dark 24 hours of the day (and cold).
