I dont have any info i wud consider trustworthy which wud corroborate dat statement. Im just one of a growing number worldwide who are totally fed up with american aggression and interference, always in oil-rich countries, coincidentally. Why people on dis site just wont see wats really going on is astounding :)

Seriously all we have to do is pump our own oil and not pay for it and make other countries wealthy. What is it about that you do not understand. The United States has more Natural resources than any other place. WE DO NOT NEED TO IMPORT ANYTHING!! WE CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT WHATEVER IT IS EVERY OTHER COUNTRY HAS, IT MAY NOT BE BETTER, BUT ITS PALATABLE!!!

You really believe that?

Not very much stuff is actually made in America anymore. Even the light bulbs in your home are from China.

Yeah I do believe we can go back to making and buying our own stuff and that we don't need to import export.

That is a very useful and attractive skill, speaking as a man who wants to spend his retirement on a sailboat. I will be taking applications for a first mate...

Well that is certainly what we should be working on anyway. It would create more jobs.

Isn't it the natural order of the free market economy that certain jobs flow down to lower sized economies as new opportunities become available in larger economies?

iPhones are made in China, but developed, serviced and sold in the USA.

Tech Support jobs have been moved over to India, but programming positions have been opened up in the USA.

Video cameras are mostly made in Asia, but film editors and people who work specifically with digital media are mostly in the USA.

Most physically demanding and/or low paying jobs will be exported to foreign countries, which make higher paying jobs that demand training or a college degree open up in the larger economies.

Why should Americans manufacture lightbulbs when better paying jobs are available?

laugh laugh laugh laugh

There are still people in America who are not highly educated that need manufacturing blue collar jobs. Don't be so naive.

Surely you don't think we should hold back the entire economy to help a minority of people?

Don't you think that if we lowered our corporate tax, it would encourage manufacturing jobs to return to the USA?

Yes, so why don't we do that?

Like I said, it is something we need to work on.

My opinion?

As long as we have a punitive tax code, Congress and the Senate can cut tax breaks for their big contributors. GE donates well to the Democrats, makes record profits and pays 0 taxes. It's the American people who get screwed, because companies that aren't favored by Congress have to pay up to 35% tax.
