Berkeley,California!laugh

I LOVE Berkeley. It is a hot bed of sexy smart types with interesting hobbies. You can walk around in jeans, a tank top with no bra, Birkenstocks and no make up and still be considered attractive. There is awesome food, music, etc. I love it.

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. This national park features a huge collection of geysers, hot springs and thermal phenomena in the entire globe. Bisons, Elk, Bears and wildlife abound in this huge national park. Its wilderness can easily be reached from the roads and visitors can get a chance to have close encounters with wildlife. Yellowstone is located near the Grand Tenton National Park, the Rocky Mountains and the open spaces of Montana.

New Orleans, Louisiana. The home of jazz music, New Orleans is a blend of the Spanish and French culture with influences from Afro-American and the Carribbean. Located at the mouth of the Mississippi River, this city is renowned for its jazz music, wild nightlife and Cajun cuisine. Who could also forget its famous weeklong Mardi Gras festival celebrated every February.

I've been blessed to see 48 of the 50 United States, Canada and Mexico. Being from the south I always wanted to live in the mountains of Montana or Western North Carolina. I made the move to Western North Carolina. Awesome People, Awesome Views here. You get to experience the four seasons here and there is always something to see from whitewater rafting, hiking the Appalachian Mountains and plenty of waterfalls as well. Good Place to retire, relax or vacation.

Having lived across the USA in several areas and visited many more I think it would kind of depend on the time of year as to where I recommend.

I think for a fly in fly out vacation I would probably recommend as a first choice. Atlanta since it is diverse, affordable, and the climate year around is bearable because they tend to try to make the city accommodate it year around with indoor and out door venues. Mass transit is excellent and a lot of Amercian history represented there. World class golf. This would be my pick for a Spring Vacation for the flowering trees but if you have hay fever be prepared.

If you are traveling as a Single I might suggest St. Louis since they seem to have a vibrant single scene. Plenty of jazz and dance places. Also have a world class zoo. The Arch Museaum area gives some local/national history. Great place to do the Fourth of July and if you like beer Octoberfest is pretty good. And you can always drop down to Branson for a bit of music flavor. I have heard the casinos are pretty good but I don't gamble so I don't know about that.

If you have only one trip to North American I think I would still consider Seattle because you get a easy skip across to Victoria BC /Cananda. Which is very consumer friendly or at least was at one time.

I would say that California can be nice for it's climate but have to agree with the fact that the tanked economy has made tourism a bad bet in the affordable areas and EXPENSIVE in the the most desirable areas. I had a recent vacation to San Diego and while some of the people with Mass transit for the disabled and Raley Field made a herculean effort the rest of the city was a bit of a dissappointment. The problem with California is it is soooooooh streached out if you don't have a month to stay and tons of money to pay for a personal rental car/highest fuel costs in the country you are going to have a tough time getting between cities. Train Service here is dismal and homelessness makes you think you have gone to a third world country. A state dependent on HMO care you better have excellent medical benifits that follow you anywhere because you absolutely do not want a medical emergency here.

I have never been to America and hope to visit in the not too distant future.

If I were to live there I would like the State of New Hampshire.

I am talking about a holiday visit.

Christmas holiday? NH is OK - but quite wintery. May I recommend Acadia Nat'l Park if you want winter beauty. It's in Me. Also in New England, rte 2 east to west thru massechusetts - lovely. I'd keep to Maine tho - amywhere from Higgins Beach to Bar Harbor

good luck

If you accept any and all suggestions ... for anywhere......the smokey mtns in NC or Lexington Ky and the eastern mtns down thru jackson - Daniel Boone nat'l wilderness area - red river gorge are also places I have much enjoyed

also Pa Dutch country in Pa - but get off the "beaten path" - try Denver , Pa.

can't speak to anywhere I haven't been tho.

I have been to NYC, Boston, Rhode Island, Savannah, Charlotte, LA, San Fran, Atlanta, Chicago, Ohio, Kentucky...

City wise I'd say I like the skyline of Chicago better,
And the beach in Rhode Island is quiet and beautiful.
