seems to me that people consume alcohol without necessarily the intention of becoming impaired. I cook with it all the time. It seems as tho the point of 420 is to become impaired. Why would I support the use of something used to become impaired over the other? Not everyone using just to get impaired, you've been watching too many stoner movies. Alcohol is poison, there is nothing good about it. Personal ganja use should not be illegal. Too many are in jails and prisons over pot..it's silly as hell. The 'war on drugs' is a joke! but i have to say im anti pot too even though i used to smoke it often Do you think people should be locked up over it?

It can be used as a topical pain reliever like bengay, in fact in co ops in our city those products are already sold to medical patients. I cook with it in small amounts, as well as good old fashioned smoking it in small doses. I don't use it to be impaired, more as an informed self-medication. As a vet who has sought treatment (psychiatric and pharmacological) for post-traumatic stress and been on some fairly harsh, albeit government-approved meds... Pot is less psychologically harmful as well as not being a lab-grown chemical cocktail that sucks the joy out of life. I cook with wine and liqueurs too, but the amount of alcohol left after reduction or what have you is so small that (as you already know) you can feed it to kids.

I don't smoke pot. I don't care if others do. I do enjoy beer and wine, though. I choose beer and wine that I enjoy the taste of. I don't drink it just to get drunk.

Prohibition of alcohol was tried, remember? DISASTROUS failure. No sense going there again. I think pot should be legalized. Think of all the tax money it would bring in. However, whoever said driving stoned isn't dangerous is out of their mind. I did it once and found myself smiling at the pretty colored lights as I got ready to drive right through them. Never did that again!! I personally am not interested in smoking it again nor in being around people who do. I like to experience life, not drift vaguely through it. Legalize pot but put restraints on it just like for alcohol.

Pitting alcohol against pot makes it more black and white, and hence a more clearly defined discussion. Screw democrat and republican, this is way more interesting!
