Topic: Fast and Furious response from Sen. McCain | |

Hopefully he will stay on top of this and makes these idiots including President Fraud answer for this. There is no doubt in my mind that this was contrived by the liberals as a way to further their anti-gun agenda.
Thank you for contacting me in regards Operation Fast and Furious. I appreciate hearing your views on this topic. As you may know, Operation Fast and Furious was launched in 2009 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The purpose of this operation was to gather intelligence on the gun smuggling practices of Mexican drug cartels operating within the United States. The ATF allowed straw purchasers to buy weapons in Arizona and had planned to track these weapons back to Mexico and the drug cartel leaders. This operation was ill conceived and poorly implemented and resulted in many of the weapons turning up at crime scenes in Mexico and the United States. Tragically, weapons used in the killing of United States Border Patrol agent Brian Terry were procured during Operation Fast and Furious. Additionally, the ATF admits that over 2,000 weapons involved in this operation remain unaccounted for. Due to these revelations, I wrote a letter to the United States Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee requesting a hearing be held as soon as possible to examine this information and determine what needed to be done to prevent further damage. Furthermore, I asked that the Attorney General of the United States, the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Acting Director of the ATF all be called to testify in front of the committee. At this time Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has stated that she had no knowledge of the Fast and Furious operation until after the death of Agent Brian Terry and both President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have stated that they also did not have knowledge of this operation while it was ongoing. Please rest assured that I will continue to look into this situation and work with my colleagues here in the Senate and in the House of Representatives to hold all responsible parties accountable. Thank you again for sharing your views with me on this issue. Please feel free to contact me regarding this issue or any other in the future. Sincerely, John McCain United States Senator |
