actually its where the government is supposed to get thier money to operate, instead of from taxing us to extinction. Tarriffs have ALWAYS HISTORICALLY WORKED. Now we are to believe that it dont work? it makes for a truly level playing field when donne properly, just like i have outlined. if china is making candles for 17c on the dollar then there should be an 83c tax on them. this levels the playing field and therefore increases your candle sales. all the other countries operate this way. What makes it different for us?

Thats just wunnerful news since returning from the grocery store seeing EVERYTHING SKYROCKET and double in cost. Gas up again to almost 3.00 gallon. Got my power bill...thats up forty bucks too! So instead of watching my baby STARVE i bought barely enough groceries to git by on. The gas? my dream and real FANTASY NOW remains a FULL TANK OF GAS!! Could have just let the power bill go....after all dinner is much more interesting by candlelight and charmglow barbque.
Considering i have a special needs youngin and have only had the ORIGINAL child support amounT back in 1999. My file for medical out of pocket expenses and some were OUT OF THIS WORLD from 1999 to TODAYS DATE have yet to be COLLECTED OR ENFORCED. Request after request to have my case REVIEWED and These medical expenses reimbursed, I got that review hearing!!! yah buddy!! child support LOWERED his child support by ONE HALF in 2004. Aint THAT just swell...our government hard at NOT wanting to help us.

"Meanwhile, most research on the minimum wage finds that it reduces employment. Emphasizing the Card-Krueger evidence is like a doctor prescribing a drug relying on a single controversial study that finds no adverse side effects, while ignoring the many reports of debilitating results.

Moreover, the adverse effects of a high minimum wage go beyond its impact on total employment. In addition to reducing the amount of labor demanded, a high minimum wage compounds the problem by increasing the amount of labor supplied.

In other words, not only are there fewer jobs available for unskilled workers, but more people apply for those jobs. Studies have found that increases in the minimum wage encourage some teenagers to drop out of school earlier than they otherwise would. These teenagers take jobs that would go to unskilled adults, making it harder for those adults to make the transition from welfare to work.

The case against a high minimum wage is even more compelling once one realizes that it is not the only way to address the hardship of the working poor."

gas won't make it that far...the market won't allow it. if it rises much more, than other alternatives will be found.

do the people who do those studies work for minimum wage? in this day, you simply cant survive on less than 10.00/hr. thats the cold truth. any less and its better to go on welfare, where you dont have to maintain a car and you have full health coverage. If your gonna work and be broke, why not go on the dolls?

if the cost of living goes up much more i guess i will have to start making candles or something. maybe become a college professor. Glad my son is in the persian gulf defending and protecting our rights. maybe he can send us a few jobs for those that need 1

the alternatives are already here... sort of. the intrastructure is being built now. it just takes time and lots of money. there are ways of making gas go a LOT farther also, but the oil companies buy the patents and bury them somewhere so we can buy more of thier dinosaur juice. in the 1930s, there was the pogue carburetor, which got over 200 mpg on three different manufacturers cars.... suppressed. there atr literally thousands of hi mileage systems on the books but well never see them.
