This is by an Israeli Jew.

Uri Avnery

Onetime member of the Knesset

Can't wait for you know who to discredit this man.

“Israel has no foreign policy, only a domestic policy,” Henry Kissinger once remarked.

This has probably been more or less true of every country since the advent of democracy. Yet in Israel this seems even truer. (Ironically, it could almost be said that the US has no foreign policy, only an Israeli domestic policy.)

In order to understand our foreign policy, we have to look in the mirror. Who are we? What is our society like?...

Shaped by political culture, Israel's foreign policy is ruled by its need for security, by logic, and by centuries of Jewish life experience...Israel lives by tradition, spirituality, and a strong capacity for politics...

Israel maintains diplomatic, commercial, and cultural ties with 157 countries world wide...They provide humanitarian aid to developing countries and for natural disasters...They share a close friendship with the US and hold membership in many international organizations...

Israels foreign policy is influenced by their strategic situation, the Arab-Israeli conflict and rejection by most Arab states...Their goal is to overcome isolation and achieve friendly relations with as many countries as possible....

And the barriers to peace?

The only barrier to peace in the Mideast is the Arab acceptance
of the Jewish state of Israel. Whenever they stop attacking Israel
there is peace.

If he felt the urge to puke while listening to Barry's speech, he can't be all bad.
