My biggest gripe with the adaptation is the cheesy spider like justme mentioned. The cast was decent and had good chemistry(both adult and kids)

Even though it also took many liberties, the best TV adaptation from a King book for me is Tobe Hooper's Salem's Lot.

But The Running Man made way too many changes that it barely even resembles the book it's adapted from.

Considering how many of his films have been adapted I think King has had a really good track record of films- Carrie, The Shining, Dead Zone, Stand By Me, Misery, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Delores Claiborne....

Wasn't Dreamcatcher a Stephen King?

I still watch Stand by Me. Love that movie.

I was going to mention Dreamcatcher, however I think it was absolutely horrible compared to the book. However there were comical moments, like when Morgan Freeman declared "We'll get those as* weasels" or whatever he actually said.

I've read many of his books. They are always better than the movies. The last one I read was Cell which I really liked.

Was Thinner a King book? That was good...

It is, and I agree.

Hopefully that doesn't include the horrendous Creepshow III.

It's a fun cheesy so bad it's good type movie, but definitely not a good adaptation.

Have not seen it. But not really a King film in my opinion since he had no part in it to my knowledge.

Was always a huge Stephen King fan. Couldn't wait for the next book.
I read really fast and sometimes I would read them again.

I loved The Stand, IT, Misery, and a few others the best.

Most of the movies made from his books were pretty bad, (Pet Cemetary anyone??) but I loved Stand by Me, The Shining, Misery (Kathy Bates was perfect), Shawshank Redemrtion and a few others. I liked IT.

Crazy, I know, but for some reason I liked Christine. Cheesy as can be, but still...

The books are always so much better.

I heard talk years ago that they were going to make his Gunslinger books in to a movie. I do not know how they were going to accomplish that and have it make any sense. Did they ever make that into a movie?

It has been made into an ongoing comic strip along with a few other of his works.

I read the Gunslinger series, except for the last one. I have it, just haven't read it yet. There is no way that could be just a movie. Too long and too much.

That's why it was planned as multiple films and a tie-in TV series.

I think Pet Sematary is excellent, by far one of the best horror films to come out of the late 80's.

Stephen King books > movie adaptations. Every last one, especially It. It the movie was unforgivable... Except for Tim Curry.
