I know most of you use different forms of divination. I use Tarot. I was wondering how many of you read for yourself. Are you able to do a reading (with runes, tarot or whatever you use) for yourself or do you have to go to someone else?

Tarot is really lovely, but I can't get the feel for it. I have several decks however.

I also have the Animal Medicine Cards, and a couple of Goddess decks. Really like them. I go i detail with the Medicine Cards, but usually pull one card with the Goddesses.

The Goddess cards....are these like "advice cards" where each one gives you a little message on the card? That might be a good idea for me over Tarot readings for myself.

The problem with the tarot reading for myself is that I actually read the cards. When doing a reading for someone else I can see a pretty clear picture of what they mean or are saying at that time. But, for me, I'm afraid that my emotional attachment to the issue comes into play and I don't read them as objectively.

I always read that you couldn't divine your own future. It's like an electrical system, you need that flow of energy between two poles in order to get any results. But what do I know? flowerforyou

Quite a bit more than you let on.

I read for myself. Every day.

I don't consider it divining for the future so much as simply an indication of how the day will go, with more than one possibility for the outcome since I am the decision maker.

I agree and I probably shouldn't use the term "divination" for that very reason.

When I read for others, particularly regarding a relationship, I am able to clearly see any specific issues facing the couple. I can usually tell if one party is lying to the other or married or involved in something bad like criminal activity. But I cannot do this when I read for myself. At least not very well. I need to learn to better control my emotions and detach myself from any particular outcome to get an accurate reading.

I rarely do readings for myself unless there is some event in progress that I might need some insight on.

I do one card readings for general advice and I use my own deck and my own book that I wrote for the deck which gives advice for each card.

I will do one today and see what comes up.

Ten of Wands: (Card of the workaholic.)

Advice: You must use your will to direct your attention and actions, but learn to delegate to get some well deserved rest. Do something creative.

I learned something yesterday about reading the cards. I asked the cards what was making my sister so sick. She had been throwing up and feeling awful for about 2 days. I pulled the 6 of pentacles and couldn't see it. (In my defense I was pretty sick myself, but still...) Then I asked for a clarification card. I got The Emperor. I just put them aside as I had no idea.

So, what made her sick? Her doctor has prescribed a new antibiotic for her and she had an allergic reaction to it.

As soon as she told me that I saw the cards in my head and it made PERFECT sense.

Someone gave her something that made her sick. Someone in a position of authority. I feel like an idiot for not seeing it. Sometimes you should just look at the picture and not try to overthink it. It was right there.

Yep those cards were definitely trying to tell you something.

6 of pentacles = giving and recieving
Emperor = person in authority, boss, etc.

I practice the tarot though my only deck I have is a necronomicon deck.

I also practice the I Ching which IA more meditative and yet is difficult to discern as I don't know Chinese or ancient Chinese calligraphy.

I either have my whole life unfolded and I already knew it or it comes up baffling.

I find it is my way of talking to my inner self and my religious ritual.

I know a lot of people who believe it is their higher self they are talking to. I'm not so sure.

I use my tarot deck primarily for myself, as a meditation tool. I, too, will get clear pictures and information when I read for others, but have to look in the book, for myself! I actually keep a record of all my readings for myself in a journal, and have developed a notation system, so I can go back and review things at a later date, if I wish. I write down my question and any thoughts or impressions, ahead of time, then proceed with the reading. I usually do a Celtic Cross, but sometimes a 3 card spread, if I'm short on time.

I choose to use the information as revelations about current events and issues, and meditate on what is being shown to me about the current state of things. I find it helps me clarify my own feelings and focus on next steps. It's proven to be a pretty good system. I try to go and get a reading from some one else every once in a while, just to get a perspective check!

Interesting.

I would like your opinion on a reading I did yesterday on the situation involving Syria using my five card reading that I call "The infallible five."

Hey, Jeannie! Sorry I missed getting back to this thread. I visited your link. What i did is this: i scrolled down so I could only see the cards.

My first impressions -
The Sun - represents Power, and in this case the conflict is over power

Queen of Pentacles (rev) - an imbalance in energy, specifically too little female energy

The Tower - in complete upheaval. Literally knocking down the old to make way for the new.

Two of Wands (rev) - blank. I got nothing, then on a second look: seeing the children makes me wonder what they are doing in such a dark story. They represent faith and hope for a fresh start, but since the card is reversed, the ability to have faith is in question.

Dark Magician - a sense of foreboding. I see somebody hiding behind a cape or costume, or in the shadows, which makes me think one particular person or force leading the way; Manipulation behind the scenes.

While your basic card readings are in general correct, as they apply to this particular question about Syria, they don't make a lot of sense.

My reading of this spread so far, is proving to be manifesting as I interpreted it.

The two of wands may represent the news that France is no longer supporting the idea of attacking Syria.

http://www.whiteoutpress.com/articles/q32013/france-flips-on-syria-russia-china-rush-warships/

The Dark Magician, in my opinion is someone behind the scenes who is pulling the strings and wants us to attack Syria and start world war III.

Probably someone who is pulling Obama's strings.

In the last 6 months or so my readings have become much more about Spirit communication. I now actually hear my Spirit Guides who give me information above and beyond what I used to get from the cards.

If you want to read for yourself, then it depends on the question on whether you should do so or not, some questions will be emotive, and so your mind will interfere with the answer, other times, perhaps the answer should not be known at this point. I have taught Divination of many system and updated them, but find that too many systems are too restricting, you system should have an answer which is relevant to the question and most do not have enough answers. I have now created a very new type of system, and it is correct every time, because the number of answer it is possible to give is literally trillions.
