neither the FBI or the NBA are releasing a whole lot of information on this yet because it is still under investigation but they are saying that one referee in particular had a gambling problem and bet large sums of money on games(some of which he officiated)during the last two seasons. they are still investigating to find out if he could have influenced the outcome with his calls.

overall i think NBA officiating is pretty good but i do remember quite a few games over the last two seasons where i wondered if the refs were watching the same game. i definitely think that there are some who abuse their power.

i was only joking adj4u. there were bad calls throughout the whole playoffs but the pistons just didn't play to their potential in that series. even without the bad calls they still would have lost. cleveland just had it going on. just too bad they couldn't play to that level during the finals, it would have been alot better than the blowout.

i think that would be considered racketeering

not to mention illegal gambling

if he but the fix in

to cover multiple gambling debts

and the bookie

made major profits by beating the odds

yea i can see racketeering or some such charge

you're right adj4u they also know that the ref had links to some people in organized crime so they are investigating the fix angle as well

the thing is though, i don't think it would have ever come to light if the FBI weren't interested in the refs organized crime relations.

Basketball (which I love, by the way).has had rumors of this for years......you can go back a long way on this......I mean how many times did Jordan travel, or Rodman foul in the finals against the Jazz, or in the east finals against the Pacers.

i agree with you. i said it earlier in the thread about how many times have you seen a call made that didn't have anything to do with what the 10 players on the court were doing when the call was made.

I think Stern decides the finalist before the season, to an extent.

i hope not. corruption that high up would turn the NBA into a sham and i would refuse to watch something that was fixed.

they identified the ref that was being investigated. apparently he was a ref during the game between the heat and the knicks when new york outshot the heat in the free throw department 39 attempts to 8 attempts for the heat. both coaches for the heat were also given techs. new york beat the spread in that game.
