We here in SE Colorado (Baca County) have about 15 inches of snow, but the wind has caused snow drifts up to ten feet according to the News.

I'm going to have a lot of snow shoveling to do tomorrow. There is a huge drift at my Mom's back door. I will have to use my snow shoes to get into the house to tend to Mom and Dad today.

All roads here into town have been closed.

Today, of all days, I saw my Dad attempting to get out of bed at 5:30 a.m. (from the camera I have in his room) and had to put on my snow shoes and walk over a 4 foot drift to get to the back porch. I bought these snow shoes in 2006 after we got 4 feet of snow (all over not just drifts)... I have had these snow shoes for 5 years. I was thinking I would never have to use them.

They worked nicely. They are modern lightweight shoes and cost $170.00. I bet I could sell them now here for $300.00 LOL.

Today I will dig a path across the driveway to get to my mom's back door. Here is a picture of the storm in 2006 and the path I dug. It me took two days to reach the bottom of the steps.

2006 storm:

This time we have a roof over the porch so I did not have to dig to get to the door, and we don't have as much snow. But the drift is just about as deep.

So far no power outages. We usually get those in thunderstorms.
All our heat is electric, so if we lose power we will get cold.

Worst of all.... no Internet!! sad scared scared

Least you won't have to be exposed to some of the head spinning arguments around here lol. So it may not be ALL bad.

In seriousness though, be safe and stay warm. flowerforyou

Ha!

It's 80° and not a cloud in the sky here today.

Which kinda worries me because if we keep getting inundated with all this sunshine, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to spend Christmas in shorts and flip-flops. bigsmile

CBS4 Denver News reporter emailed me to see if I could send him some pictures of some of the ten foot drifts that people were reporting. I told him my first priority is to dig a path from my door across the driveway to my mom's door.

The guy with the equipment said he would be there "soon." He ain't here yet. I'm digging a narrow path.

As they say: I'm too old for this ****.
