I just woke up because the A/C kicked on and it was cold so I checked the computer. My mother emailed the family. My grandmother, Sibyl, passed yesterday. It was painless and she went to heaven in peace. She is now with my beloved grandfather who was a huge animal lover and humanitarian, Ivan. They had a long distance romance by mail. He was her brother's best friend. She was in Kansas and he courted her from CA and built her a house from spare parts at construction sites he worked at. It was a starter house on a quarter of a block and he always meant to build her a bigger one and never got a the chance. They very quickly had five children, Judy, Gary, Chuck, Larry and Lanny. Gary and Lanny have passed. She is also in heaven with my big brother, Todd, and my closest cousin, Dawnie who died the day before her 7th birthday when she was supposed to go to Disneyland the next day.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for her quick passing. The cancer did not get her. It was complications from a ripped stomach and twisted intestine. She got a very bad staph infection. But in the end, God's will was done and her passing was comfortable and peaceful.

Thank you all. We are just happy that the Alzheimer's never got so bad she had to go into a nursing home. She was never in diapers. Etc. She was with us mentally until the end at least.

I have taken care of so many dying people. I will tell you my philosophy. I give myself 36 hours to crazily mourn and do anything I want short of drugs and sleeping with strangers. Then I pull myself up by my bootstraps and tell myself "ONE MORE TO GREET ME WHEN I MAKE IT TO HEAVEN" and then I move on.

It was not a glorious as when my brother died and it was literally like watching a bird leave a cage.

But as they would say in "Grumpy Old Men", it was a "lucky b*stard" passing. She nodded that she wanted off the ventilator. We took her off and she went to sleep and never woke up.
