Lawmaker Parviz Sorouri, who is on the parliament's national security and foreign policy committee, said Monday the extracted information will be used to file a lawsuit against the United States for the "invasion" by the unmanned aircraft.

Sorouri also claimed that Iran has the capability to reproduce the drone through reverse engineering, but he didn't elaborate.

Webmaster's Commentary:
Iran has a strong case against the US merely by having the drone. I don't think bluffing to more than is really there is a good idea. From the manner in which the lower section of the drone is masked, what I speculate what happened is that the drone simply malfunctioned and belly-flopped, not unlike that B-2 crash where the onboard computer was fooled by a fouled pitot. The US is, after all, the nation that built an F-22 that asphyxiates its pilots and the F-35 which cannot fly in the rain or the electronics stop working. So a drone malfunction is hardly an extreme idea. And unless I see an intact undercarriage on that drone, I think the malfunction and recovery theory is the strongest.

Head of the Iranian Judiciary High Council for Human Rights says the violation of Iran's airspace by an American spy drone is a blatant example of rights violation and legal action will be taken against the US.

Mohammad-Javad Larijani said Sunday that Tehran would be pursing this clear instance of the violation of its sovereignty.

The official added that US intervention in the affairs of other countries is usually accompanied by terrorist measures.

We believe respecting the rights of other nations is a necessity. Today's world will no longer accept US and Western leadership,” he added.

“Interfering in [internal] affairs of other countries is a dark habit of the US and [other] Western countries, and we (Iran) oppose all forms of intervention in the affairs of Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Syria and other countries,” he said.

Larijani stated that the UN Security Council should probe the incident with due diligence and immediately in line with the world body's specified duties.

Asked about global reverberations of capturing a US drone by Iran's military, he said, “What has been done is important, but our abilities are higher than this and even if we had not captured the aircraft, our abilities in this area would have been still stunning.”

A US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft was downed, with minimal damage, by the Iranian Army's electronic warfare unit on Sunday December 4 when flying over the Iranian city of Kashmar, some 140 miles (225km) from the Afghan border.

On December 6, two US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the drone has been part of a CIA reconnaissance mission, involving the United State's intelligence community stationed in Afghanistan.

Iran's envoy to the UN, Mohammad Khazaei called on the world body on Thursday to condemn the United States' violation of Iranian airspace, saying that the drone was flying 250 kilometers inside Iranian territory when it was forced down.

Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the Swiss ambassador Livia Leu Agosti, whose embassy serves the US interests in Tehran, on Thursday to convey Iran's serious protest against violation of its airspace by the US spy drone.

The Foreign Ministry also summoned the Afghan envoy to Tehran, Obeidollah Abid, on Saturday calling for an immediate explanation from the Kabul over the incident.

The RQ-170 is an unmanned stealth aircraft designed and developed by the Lockheed Martin Company.

The drone is one of America's most advanced surveillance aircraft. Its loss is considered a major embarrassment for Washington.
