Government Motors wishes to introduce the Volt

The first electric car that runs on more than electricity.

Volt is unique among electric vehicles because you have two sources of energy. You have an electric source–a battery–that allows you to drive gas–free for an EPA–estimated 35 miles. And there's also an onboard gas generator that produces electricity so you can go up to a total of 375 additional miles on a full tank of gas.

OOOOOOPS. Volt being recalled. Government Motors fails

So much for the bailout. Looks like they may want a bigger chunk of tax payer bucks to fix their flop.

Chevy Volt recall
November 26, 2011 by Don Surber

'UPDATE: I filed this originally at 3 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2011, under the headline, “Chevy Volt recall?” With developments on Monday, it is clear that the federal government is recalling these electric cars because of fears that long after they have an accident they will burst into flames. Spontaneous combustion is a huge problem that makes these the Electric Vegas (as one commenter put it) as dangerous as they are impractical.

This looks like a stealth recall of Chevy Volts.

Just a thought ... I was told by an ex philosophy teacher who worked in a think tank in DC for most of the 70's, that they had several fuel systems then that would easily make 75 mpg. But the big oil companies ldn't let them be made public. I was told this over dinner one night with him and his wife before I moved to New Mexico.

So instead of concentrating on these freaking "battery operated" cars, we should probably work on maximizing fuel efficiency. It makes more sense to me to improve on a product we already have then venture into a technology that is being advanced so fast that it's causing cars to blow up.

Seriously, why are people so hell bent on electric cars? Why not an alternative fuel. And don't mention ethanol, that 10% they add to some gas has already screwed up my fuel system in my truck twice!

We should all be driving compressed natural gas vehicles. It would instantly stop the need to import oil. Burns cleaner. No new tech needed. We have quite a bit of gas here in the states.

Why not take a step right out of time...

so to speak.

Foot powered cars.

Electrical motors with foot powered rechargers.

You could drive on one charge while 'charging' the other.

and be slim and lean to boot.

OOoooo,OOoooo, Bdrock cars, how about horses, or hydrgen cars, or a magnet system like the Japanese train system.

All magnets on light poles be directed so the polarity is the same on light poles the front of the car opposite magnet to pull you forward, rear magnet same to repel car and the gas pedal open close covers to control speed no gas environmentally safe.
