As far as I can remember they dont believe in the trinity concept, Father and son are seperate and in Jesus name they pray because God let his son be sacrificed for the good of mankind..... phew glad them days are over!

Some may say that "saints" act merely as intercessors with God. But Jesus himself instructed: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Also, whatever it is that you ask in my name, I will do this, in order that the Father may be glorified in connection with the Son." (John 14:6, 13) Jesus thus ruled out the idea that anyone called a saint could serve in the role of intercessor. Observe also what the apostle Paul said regarding Christ: "He not only died for us—he rose from the dead, and there at God's right hand he stands and pleads for us." "He is living for ever to intercede for all who come to God through him."—Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25, Catholic Jerusalem Bible.

adj4u,

This is my last post in this thread, because you are twisting what I have said and ignoring the truth.

You said "and they do say he is the son of God"

SHOW ME WHERE I SAID THAT THEY DON'T.

What I said is that they say Jesus isn't God. It's true, they don't believe that Jesus is God. That link I posted makes that very clear.

i never said you did say that

i have not twisted anything

all reference i have made has been copy and paste

i have stated some first hand knowledge

your post
------------------------
adj4u,

Individual JWs might believe that Jesus is God and pray to Jesus, but the church itself does NOT beleive that Jesus is God and they do NOT pray to or worship Jesus. Read the link I posted and see for yourself.
---------------------------

where did i say that they said he is a god

i said they pray through christ and ask him to deliver the massage

but if you do feel you do not want to continue
defending your concepts then don't

or maybe you can't

and maybe some feel attacked when other posts are given
to disprove them

i attacked you not

if i am wrong show me

but do not try to say i said things i did not say

adj4u,

Look, let's try to be rational...no running off on rabbit trails, okay?

I said "JWs don't believe that Jesus is God. They don't worship Jesus and they don't pray to Jesus. "

You asked me to prove that. I posted the link. You continued to argue your point. I'm not here to prove anything, but what I originally posted as correct. It is. All the other fluff that you keep bringing up doesn't interest me. You ASKED for proof and I gave it. Let me break it down for you...

JWs don't believe that Jesus is God. CHECK
They don't worship Jesus. CHECK
They don't pray to Jesus. CHECK

All correct according to JW beliefs and supported by the links you have posted. JW only pray to and worship God the Father.

Why do we have to argue? What are we even arguing about? What do you mean "but if you do feel you do not want to continue
defending your concepts then don't "? I didn't post my beliefs about JWs, I posted what I KNOW from reading their website. Every post I make, someone has to argue and quibble. WHY? I'm right according to your own links. Drop it, okay? I don't want to fight, I just can't figure out why you do and what you want to fight about.

adj4u,

"how can christ deliver said prayer

if said prayer was not prayed to him "

It's not my beliefs, so I don't claim to understand them.

From your link...
==============================================================
For one thing, the very first word tells us to whom our prayers must be addressed—to our Father. Notice that Jesus made no room whatsoever for praying to some other person, image, "saint," or even to him. After all, God had declared: "I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven things." (Isaiah 42:8, Dy) Prayers directed to anything or anyone other than our heavenly Father are therefore not heard by him, no matter how sincere the worshiper may be. In the Bible, only Jehovah God is called the "Hearer of prayer."—Psalm 65:2.
==============================================================

Notice it is specific that ALL prayers should be directed to God the Father, not to Jesus. Read here: "Prayers directed to anything or anyone other than our heavenly Father are therefore not heard by him"

Do we really have to keep going? I wasn't wrong in my first post. I wasn't lying about JWs or trying to make them look bad, I am just stating the facts as THEY present them.

adj4u,

This is the link in question: http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/1996/7/15/article_02.htm

It's from the official JW website.

"i said i thought the information was incorrect "

It's not.

"and the prayer part is definitely incorrect "

Well, don't tell me...you better tell the JWs, because it's what they believe.

Ugh...I don't feel like getting into the vagueries of JW ideology, so I'm just going to answer the original question here.

There are a few reasons this wouldn't be appropriate by their standards.

1.) You are not a JW, so your prayers don't countohwell .
2.) There notion of the after-life is slightly different from most Christians as they believe that death is the price of sinning, and only the wicked stay dead forever. (There is a whole resurrection thing for the righteous and non-righteous...just not the wicked). So, to them he is not necessarily dead, but just waiting to be resurrected.
3.) They don't believe in a soul, which is why they have prohibitions against transfusions and the like. So if you are praying for his soul...that's a whole lot of blasphemy to them flowerforyou

Anyhoo, there are probably dozens of other reasons, but you should just ask them, that's what I'd do.
