As of March 31, 2007, the Regular Army reported a strength of 507,082 soldiers. Possibly 1/3 of that number are combat troops (Infantry, Armor, and artillery), the other 2/3 are support troops (medical, transport, supply, etc.)

Fanta..not sure where you get these figures..and who say "possbly 1/3 " of them are this...but I'm sure those figures only include "active" Army and soes not reflect the probly 2 or 3 times that in the reserve.... Also you left out Marines and etc...but the point is mute...I'm not going to argue troop strengh when the big picture is really is it in our national interest to defeat the Al Quaida in Iraq, to keep Iran from dominating the region and to keep Syria from exporting terror through the region?
