why is it that the instant message does not work often?

On mingle you have the option to shut off Instant Messanger. Maybe the person you are trying to message has theirs shut off.

i am assuming that the instant message option does not show in their profile for those who turn it off; however, there are some who have this option showing yet are unable to get my instant messages but receive mail with no problem.

ethan2, your assumption is correct that the IM button is not there for members who have turned off that feature. Perhaps those who are having trouble with the IM should post. It's tough enough for us to speculate as to why something might not be working for you, and it's much more difficult for us to guess what is going on with others' setups.

Hi euro66,
To IM someone, both you and the other member have to have the IM feature turned on. If a member has the IM feature on then you will see a button under the main profile picture (along with email them, send a friends request, etc) If you don't see the IM button then they have the IM turned off. Kim |
