It's an episode of the Daily Show. They do a special in which they expose the Great Science Lie. Its great. It starts about 5:30 in.

I love when politicians both republican and democrat alike start telling us about science. Whats worse is the idiots who follow these retards and believe everything they say LOL

really - what do THEY know about science> nada

scientists will be the first one to tell u the weaknesses and controls for it in their work

tho I will say that some of the "human sciences" like psych are psuedo to me....even if they follow a scientific method - there are numerous reasons for my opinion...

but science provides us with the truth about the world around us and about our (physical) selves - IDK why anyone would presume scams- it is that which can be physically evidenced - or mathematically supposition - closest thing to truth we have IMO

Politicians are idiots and so are TV/Radio talky talks and for that matter the idiots who listen to em.

Notice I did not use the laughing banana, that would be pure laughter.

No my laughter is more like 'UNBELIEVABLE' and then the moment hits and I think - it's really not funny, it's scary.

True. The philosopher of science Karl Popper wrote quite a bit about this.

The scientific method relies on inductive reasoning, which is always fallacious. Science can lead us to truth, but the method does not guarantee the outcome will be true. The video was somewhat humorous, but the satire wasn't so good considering it is based on the layman's understanding of science.

Yeah, it is scary. Some of the things she says, which she actually believes... its frightening. Further, her view is representative of a huge number of people.

I once injured my ankle, and was surrounded by 8 to 10 people who wanted to help. One person offered an herbal remedy, and I wasn't going to turn it down. Some herbs actually have active ingredients that are useful for their intended purpose.

But she came back with homeopathic pills, and EVERYONE in the group thought that homeopathic pills were a good idea. And they took the 'rules of use' for them VERY seriously. So seriously, that they even argued about them. EVERYONE in the group.

It was frightening to me, to suddenly see how ignorant and irrational our population is.

Oh yeah... I keep forgetting that psych and soc and such are considered 'sciences'. I don't consider them sciences - they are not anywhere close to physics, chemistry, biology and such - in how tight the coupling is between precise, meaningful language and actual reality, and how well theories are tested/confirmed.
