I told windows 7 not to load anymore upgraded files,and itstill doing it. Downloading files everytime i connecto the internet. How can i deactivate this automatic update?

Wait a minute, women! Windows7 cant download anythin before you give your commands. What does it downloads? Checkout your main drive. Are you using any Antivirus? Windows fireball? If its not upgraded, you might have set it to upgrade itself.

maybe you;ve done it wrong. follow these steps.

start> Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\Change settings\
then where it says install updates automatically change it to never check for updates.

yes win 7 is great.. Ive set windows to never update..and it instald new files! And now,somehow it says, always update, and then i just go and change it again to never update and windows will change it back to always update..hm i think windows is going to win..

then ===> Important Update
select =====> Never check fot Updates ( Not recommended )

What I do is run several computers, many of them with multiple operating systems. I dedicated each to specific tasks. For my internet, I have one operating system on one puter, however it is not hooked into the network. So, none of the computers can access the internet except the one I do uploads and downloads with-but it has another operating system on it so I can move files to it from the home network.

If you have only one puter, you might want to put on an operating system in a multiple boot config that only that system hooks to the net.

you have to change the settings in your Windows Updates in the Sysyem Security section of your Control Panel so Windows asks you before downloading, but those downloads are a form of system maintenance. without them your OS will crash brefore long or have greater potential for future compatiblity issues

i use mcaffee for internet security always good to have some protection online .all my downloads ask me first before but they dont usually mess with it unless im using a facebook app an i had to quit doing any of them they slow down my computer bad .I had windows vista before windows 7 i have to say windows 7 is way better to me. i agree with (lovabwai23)id start there if i had problems .good luck on it.

i love this. Who does Windows 7 think it is? It sounds like a freeloader to me. lol. Don't let it use you. I never knew technology could be so ungrateful. Here's hoping the next one treats you with more respect.

It depends ... alot of times .. especially when you first install hardware..purchase a computer... or isntall a new copy of any operating system it will automatically begin downloading the latest drivers for your hardware. It will do it for about a week or two maybe even a little longer. Usually if you have a lot of newly added updates it is becuase of that.
