This is pretty much the reason I hate going to a doctor....those guys make thier boat payments by making sure there is something wrong with me. There's a difference, though. If you die, they can't make any more money off you. So they do have a bit of a vested interest in at least keeping you alive. |

this one is slow but seems good for meeting them although it doesnt exclude the off countrys have met several from foreighn countrys always want me to send money picked the wrong poor boy for that lol.  Yeah, I've run into some of that, too, and I've gotten to where I can pick out the scammers just from the pic or the first 3 words of the message! Mingle, as a free site, has no intrinsic motivation to deceive its clientele, though. As there's no financial incentive to keep people locked in, our owners and admins can direct their efforts towards making this a better site for all concerned. Gotta love that! (And, in my opinion, they've done an excellent job!)  I get several a week from other countries, wanting to marry me. LOL. And all of them claim to be the very best in bed. PUHLEEEEEASE! I found Mingle by accident, but I am so glad I did, I have met the nicest, friendly people here. I never did pay on any site, way too expensive and most want to get married right away. I am just enjoying making new friends, having intelligent conversations and posting my poetry as well as reading others. Damn machug---- i used to get a lot of INdia peeps/ but not really anymore...now i dont get much....but its cool. I have BREW nOW. |

On pay sites you have just as much chance as you do on non-pay sites so why should you pay for stuff that is free elsewhere?
Also, the people on pay sites don't know what they want either. Do you think I know? I don't, other than to make adult friends over 30 (all of mine seem to be 23 or 24, what I get for going to school). So with Lex's hypothesis and the fact no one knows what they really want other than an idealized dream, it doesn't pay to pay, imo. |

On pay sites you have just as much chance as you do on non-pay sites so why should you pay for stuff that is free elsewhere? Well, that's one of my problems with pay sites. And there have been rumors (unconfirmed of course, nudge nudge, wink wink, you know what I mean?) that some of the pay sites actually send bogus e-mails from bogus people to some of their members in order to make said members believe there are people who are interested in them. There would never be a reason for a free site to resort to that. Also, the people on pay sites don't know what they want either. Do you think I know? I don't, other than to make adult friends over 30 (all of mine seem to be 23 or 24, what I get for going to school). Well, I know what I want, and it isn't on dating sites, pay or free, so I'm trying to come up with some practical alternatives. I agree that a lot of (probably the majority of) people on dating sites have no idea what they're looking for, I just happen to be in the other camp. So with Lex's hypothesis and the fact no one knows what they really want other than an idealized dream, it doesn't pay to pay, imo. I tried a pay site for 3 months back in 2006, and was astonished by the number of members who contacted me from there (174 in the 3 months). And most of them were locals. But none of them were who I was looking for. |
