Most 15 to 18 year olds are going to be childless. 20 years ago, that would be true. But I see more and more 18-year-olds on dating sites who have kids already. And some of them obviously had those kids before they turned 18 ("I have two kids, ages 3 and 1"), so who knows what the percentage is for the 15-to-17 group? I will be the first to agree that an 18-year-old is ostensibly less likely to have kids than a 28-year-old. It's just math/opportunity. That was the whole basis for my theory of search parameters (which didn't pan out, unfortunately, because the younger ones I expected NOT to have kids, already DID -- but this may be a dating site phenomenon). Maybe there are a lot more younger people in the states and this could skew the figures. I think people in the States are more easily led into conformist behaviors. At least, I HOPE so. I'd like to think there's someplace in the world where people realize they have the capacity to do their own thinking and make their own choices. I got the sense Germany was like that, when I was over there. I wonder what the figure for, say, 30-44 year olds would be. I'm thinking this would require negative numbers. They also omit the fact that 70% of mothers in Alabama eat their babies. It's probably for the best. |
