Houston authorities are investigating a shooting at Rep. Gene Green’s office on Tuesday morning that left two bullet holes in the windows.

No one was injured and the Texas Democrat was not in his office at the time. Green didn’t appear to be the target.

"We were recently informed that the Lone Star College building next door was also hit and lost several windows as well so we believe this was likely a random event," a source familiar with the Green incident told Fox News.

Building employees initially thought the gunshots were the sound of a car backfiring until they discovered the bullet holes, MyFox Houston reported.

The Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the shooting. It’s possible the shots were fired from a BB gun, police told MyFox Houston.

Green's office building also houses an employment service and television facility, MyFox Houston reported.

The U.S. Capitol Police told Fox News that it is "aware of the incident and is currently working with other law enforcement agencies."

BB guns don't sound like a car backfiring and the holes they leave do not look like bullet holes. They seldom penetrate the glass, but can from a high powered air gun.

I was thinking the same thing and they wouldn't involve the Capitol Police if it was just a BB gun, they probably just dont want to create public panic after the Giffords shooting.
