Does anyone know a relatively quick and painless way to convert a wps into a doc file? I have a wps on my computer which I need to convert (because Amazon Kindle likes the doc format, apparently) but I have nothing on the computer which will open it.

I've looked at a bunch of websites and all of the converter programs I've seen require that the wps file be opened before it can be converted. Since I can't open it, this is a problem. One site suggested just changing the file extension, but that didn't accomplish anything.

You have Windows or Mac? If Windows, what version of software. I may be able to help.

I don't have Word or Works, so that isn't gonna do it. Thanks anyway.

Download Open Office. It's free. You should be able to open it, then save it as a doc. It's what I use, since I don't have ms word.

I have that, I love it. Use it all the time. The problem is, it won't open this particular file. It's opened every other file format I've ever needed it to open, it just won't do this one.

Do you have the latest version? I had read that the latest version would open that type of file. I could be wrong, though.

Yup, that got it! I had to phweedle around with it a little but it eventually converted!
