Topic: Not so Paranoid after all... | |
---|---|
My business credit card numbers and info was stolen. Several eroneous charges from Saudia Arabia showed up and citicards called and said "did you charge these items?" All the charges said "telephone". Nope, not me. I don't do business with any third world countries. Crap on a stick.
SO - closed the account and had a new card (new account) ups'd the next day. I cannot be without a credit card for my businesses as things are auto charged - many subscriptions, hosting accounts, registrations and like that. I also purchased Russ's medical and personal supplies on that account so could not be without it for even one day. I make multiple charges each day. I guess I was not paranoid after all. I knew something fishy was happening but did not know what. I am still not sure HOW they got the numbers. Black Hat Hackers Stink. |

Been there done that, two times last year. It seems no matter what I use for security someone is always willing to spend the time to hack for this type of info.
I hope you have better luck than me. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() G |

suggestion
use a seperate comp for issues that need to be secure and only use it off line (disconnected even) eccept for the moments you need to do transactions or at least do not down load anything on it and do not share the file from it and turn it off can not hack a turned off machine but hey what do i know |

you could try using both a hardware firewall such as a router in conjuction with a software firewall, I suggest either black ice or zone alarm. also whenever doing buisness online, make sure you are only feeding info into secure sites, you can tell as there is a small yellow lock that can be seen in the corner of IE.

adj4u has a very good suggestion. usually, that kind of stuff can happen from malicious cookies and from spyware, both of which are quite common. no hacking is necessary - these do the snooping for the thieves.
