I was thinking of the few countries overseas that over throwing (or trying to over throw) their dictator style government.

And it got me to thinking why are these people doing this?
Could it be a chain reaction from seeing it done in other countries?
And if so where did it begin?
Could credit be givin to the US for ousting Sadam Hussein? And people seeing it can be done and they can have the freedoms and the right to vote in their leaders like we enjoy in the US?

I think it is a large copycat syndrome. Like you said, they see it can be done in Iraq, Egypt and now Libya.

People yearn for freedom, the more travel there is they see conditions or hear about freedom in other countries.

Their tired of a corrupt government, can't blame them for rebelling.

Our government encourages and supports this.
I wonder what our government would do to us if we rebelled like that!!!

Rebellion? Here? Why that's not allowed!

What is our govt going to do when the freedom wave washes over Saudi Arabia?

I think you can look at this from a fairly recent historical perspective.

Take the former Yugoslavia as an example.

Tito ruled with an iron fist. That was the only way to keep the factions within from killing each other off.

When Tito died, and Yugoslavia split, the killing sprees began.

I think based on the tribalism that exists in these middle eastern countries, not to mention the division of the ultra important sects of Islam, it is not unreasonable to think that there will eventually be massive unrest and wanton killing.

When we finally exit Iraq, I would not be surprised to see the Shia start exacting revenge on the Sunni for the years of oppression under Saddam.

The catalyst appears to be largely the world wide web. People all over the world are communicating with others by way of programs like Facebook and news is no longer "controlled" by the local government.

Thank you Al Gore! You have changed the world!
