but does it mean you have to shut down any potential relationships before the guy even has a chance to experience you? having to break plans doesn't have to be the end of the world. why can't plans just change. let's get on a motorcycle and ride out to airport to catch the next skydiving plane out, can change to lets just lie down and rest for the afternoon. i'd say that 99% of life is "boring" with a 1% "omg can you believe that chit" Yes, it does mean that. Because, if I am honest, I will have to admit that at the end of the day I have no energy to put into a relationship. None. After work and the children, there is nothing left. And, that's just not fair. yet being with someone would take some of that off your shoulders, just saying. plus a gentleman would think it's fair when it's for someone he loved

Ruth I have had a peek at your profile and must say you look stunning. Sometimes people's ignorance of certain problems makes them afraid as they do not truly understand what it means/entails to live with it.I have problems but do tell people about them when have been chatting - is then up to them if they would like to continue to get to know me further or not. I haven't put it in my profile as sometimes that can be the main focus as to what's wrong rather than who are you. the people I shave chatted with and told have mainly still wanted to continue chatting. The issue with my Lupus wasn't that guys weren't interested in me because of it. The problem arose because they underestimated the disease. They didn't realize how much it would affect THEM. Because I don't "look" sick, they think it will not be that bad. But, it is. It's very disappointing to make plans and then have to constantly cancel them. Or not make plans at all for simple things like going out with friends or taking a weekend getaway. There's actually a website called ButYouDon'tLookSick.com Because that's the problem. I don't look sick. So, guys think it won't be any big deal. Thank you OP for asking this Question.... I was born with Spina Bifida, It wasnt found till I was 21 & Almost took my ability to walk. Last September I had Major Surgery to insure that I could keep walking. I'm still Recouping from this surgery,It takes a toll on my Daily Activities as well as What My Son & I can do from day to day.. I did not put this on my Profile. I am in NO WAY trying to hide it,People sometimes dont understand what Spina Bifida is & How it makes some days unbearable, Im a Strong Woman & dont let it consume me. I feel when you are comfortable enough to tell someone is when you tell them, Everyone is different. |

When i was at college, i met two disabled people who were in wheelchairs. I didn't talk down to them, as i know they just want to be talked to like everyone else. And i didn't want to come across as patronising. We became great friends and were always kidding around. This is cos i gave a disabled person a chance. And they both have a brilliant sense of humor. If someone can't look past a disabled person, then they're not worth your time ;)

If you try to look past a disabled PERSON, then that's quite shallow. I worded it a bit wrong. lol. Even if i don't mean to insult, it can still happen. Jesus.

So the few women who were emailing me and stopped once I put ESRD in my profile are shallow? I didn't think of it that way but maybe I should? What should I do? I usually leave it out so I can tell them in person and they can physically see it doesn't really affect me. Should I take it back out and tell them in person again? According to the honesty thread that wouldn't be honest and I do not wish to mislead anyone. |

It's not necessarily shallow to decide you won't start a relationship with a disabled person. I would not start one because it would just be more than I could physically handle between my own issues, my children and work. You can't really judge a person for making such a decision. It's kind of like deciding not to enter into a relationship with a person who already has children. It's a personal decision and there are hundreds of reasons why someone would decide that. |

I think everyone has..areas where their capacities are limited. Some are on the outside, and you can see them. Others are inside, where you can't. Were it I, I would put EVERYthing out there that anyone might consider negative. Because it seems to me it may be far less painful, losing the ones I never met, than to lose someone after they discovered it. I also think personality can outweigh perceived flaws..I would not waste myself on people who cannot see the forest for the trees. Smart Answer, but maybe not. Not in my case, anyway. I have so many negative, disgusting, abominable, depressing, maddening, and confounding social and emotional qualities, that I never get a date any more. My fatness I consider one of my most debilitating emotional-mental disorders that stop me from developing healthy, loving, mu\tually satisfying human relationships. I have a huge personality, if you ask me, and yet the scale tips for the negatives... If I were only rich enough to put some cars, houses, and the entire Pentagon building into the same tray with my personality, well, maybe the scale would be balanced. Until such day that that happens, I guess I will just gawk at other men's wives, and morosely play with myself at nights. |

Lovemetwotimesbabe, it is immediately obvious to anyone that you talk to for two minutes that you are a psycho. Yet you are such a loveable pscycho... you laugh at other people's jokes (maybe a tad too loudly, but 'kay, not the end of the world) and maybe you are a bit too enthusiastic when you order toast in a restaurant, or you are too flambouyant in the doctor's waiting room, but hey, what would be the alternative? Running amok on the streets, or constantly sprurting out angry and abusive expletives accompanied with saliva galore. But that would not be lady-like, leave the grump and the cutting others into little pieces to be done by grumpy old man like me. You are the angel devine of psychos, who light up the party in bus shelters and in backyard alleys where only the lonely people go. So I think you are doing all right. If you are a pscyho, which I have no doubt in my mind that you are, then you are the good witch of psychos, you are the tooth fairy and loving machine of psychos. Plus, you are very good looking, which also helps you to get accepted by society at large, and by little schmuks like me at small. The only way you could appear even better, my sweet little psycho angel, were if you were rich. Nobody ever talks about their bank account around here any more. Yes, I think that would be a much more conducive topic to mating than talking about the mundane, like "what pills do you take, who is your preferred type of victim, and why are you runing toward me with bloodshot eyes and wielding a battle-axe?" ...estpecially if you happent to be an old battle-axe yourself. (General "you", not you in particular, lovemetwotimesbabe.) |
