Jesus is God - Biblical Proof (Part 1)

Jesus is God – What does the Bible say about Jesus’ deity?

Does the Bible, which is the earliest and most historically reliable source, actually say Jesus is God? What does it tell us about Jesus and His identity?

Let’s take a brief look at a few of the many passages that clearly and consistently answer that question, straight from the pages of Scripture. We’ll begin by going back an additional 700 years before the life of Christ, to the Old Testament book of Isaiah.

Jesus is not God he is the son of God and always will be.
It says in the bible that there is God only one God and then Jesus and the holy trinity that is God the father then the son and then the holy spirit. Don't know what kind of bible you are reading from but Jesus is not God but the son of God.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14

14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus is a "part" of God. Jesus is not God our father, but he is part of God our father. Jesus and God are one, they are of the same.

Sorry for the explicit example that is to follow. But it's a way to explain.

Take your body as a whole. It is one piece, it is one. Now cut your arm off. That arm even though detached is still you, yet is now it's own separate entity.

Not to argue or to instigate an argument. But I've had this question jumbled around in my head for a long time, ever since I had a girlfriend who believed this.

Who was speaking when the voice came and said "This is my son in whom I'm well pleased"? And why does it go into discription of who Jesus is and how he came to be?

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
----------------

If the word was purely just God, why would it state the word was with God?

----------------
John 1:14
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
----------------

And why would it say this if Jesus was God? Doesn't say God became flesh, it says the word was made flesh.

And after all this please answer me who said these words while Jesus was on the cross?

-----------------
Matthew 3:17

17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
------------------

So either God calls himself his son, or he was lying. Says it right there, Jesus is his SON. God said this. Less you're going to discredit this and state it was added but didn't actually happen. Then if we're gonna look at the bible in that way, none of it may be true. It all could be made up. Which it's not. It's all the truth and nothing but the truth. God would not have let any mortal man add, take away, or manipulate anything in the scriptures. Again, not arguing. But I've had these questions ever since I first heard someone tell me that Jesus is God. Jesus is the only begotten child of our father who art in heaven, therefore Jesus would be "A" God, being the child of a God and all.

Yes, saints of God...this is a hot topic!!!

But your own personal logic will not bring you to an understanding of this.
There are many awesome facts about the Saviour of this world...

that, if the Lord sees profitable to enlighten you with,

which to discover of it would be breath-taking to say the least.

We stumble at these things because our comprehensions are so basic...

most of us will never understand the simplest concepts.

Though we consider ourselves religious and faithful,

our understandings of the work of God are not above the scribes

and pharisees of the time of Jesus.

It truly was "expedient" that Christ go away from us physically.
Because many of us,
if it were left to our own understandings would crucify Christ ourselves today.

Why? How?

Because His deity doesn't satisfy our set understanding of it all.

At a stage of our Christian walk when we should be teachers...we are in so dire need to be taught.

"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers,
ye have need that one teach you again
which be the first principles of the oracles of God;
and are become such as have need of milk,
and not of strong meat."

Heb 5:12,

- Apostle Paul -

There are many things that we must accept by faith and spend a lot more time in His Word...
or run the risk of blaspheming His Name and limiting His power.

????
I hope so since it was after all Jesus who died now glorfied and died for our sins and it was God who sent him.

There will come a time in the future or even now when false truths are said , written ect.... read the bible cover to cover and you will actually experiance the truth not the lies that people over the internet are saying.And you will then be able to discern the lie and the truth.
Just saying....
I am a Christian and I belive in God and Jesus and the Trinity and it was so weird how you came up with this post... it sure did ignite some more posts I will hand you that but spreading lies that Jesus is God is not really cute.

Just a side note kind of question kind of thing lol. This discussion and having to look up things for this discussion, I have stumbled across some things and wish to know other people's thoughts on it.

In Genesis 2:7 and hence forth for a bit it uses the title "LORD" God. Before then it only used God. And in Isaiah 9:6 referring to Jesus it says "The everlasting father". I know it's speaking of Jesus specifically cause it says a child is born, unto us a son is given. And then goes further into detail. But the "everlasting father" in his description has me thinking a different way then before.

6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

So what I wish to hear, is your thoughts on this. Please, finding this has kinda got me thinking, and I could really use some help now.

Proverbs 8:
Commendation of Wisdom

1, Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
2, She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
3, She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.
4, Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
5, O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6, Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7, For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8, All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9, They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
10, Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
11, For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
12, I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
13, The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
14, Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
15, By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
16, By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17, I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
18, Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
19, My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
20, I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
21, That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
22, The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23, I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24, When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25, Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26, While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
27, When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28, When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29, When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30, Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31, Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
32, Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
33, Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
34, Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35, For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
36, But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

15, Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16, Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Can't we Christians all get along with each other?
Maybe each person should pray regarding the issue.
God said I AM..... Could he be both Father & Son?

Peace... by Christ Jesus

How can one God be three persons?

The doctrine of the Trinity

— that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are each equally and eternally the one true God —

is admittedly difficult to comprehend,
and yet is the very foundation of Christian truth.

Although skeptics may ridicule it as a mathematical impossibility,
it is nevertheless a basic doctrine of Scripture as well as profoundly realistic
in both universal experience and in the scientific understanding of the cosmos.

Both Old and New Testaments teach the Unity and the Trinity of the Godhead.
The idea that there is only one God, who created all things,
is repeatedly emphasized in such Scriptures as Isaiah 45:18:

“For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens;
God himself that formed the earth and made it;
…I am the Lord;
and there is none else.”

A New Testament example is James 2:19:

“Thou believest that there is one God;
thou doest well;
the devils also believe, and tremble.”

The three persons of the Godhead are, at the same time,
noted in such Scriptures as Isaiah 48:16:

“I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
From the time that it was, there am I;
and now the Lord God,
and his Spirit, hath sent me.”

The speaker in this verse is obviously God,
and yet He says He has been sent both by The Lord God (that is, the Father)
and by His Spirit (that is, the Holy Spirit).

The New Testament doctrine of the Trinity is evident in such a verse as John 15:26,
where the Lord Jesus said:

“But when the Comforter is come
whom I will send unto you from the Father,
He shall testify of me.”

Then there is the baptismal formula:

“baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”
(Matthew 28:19).

One name (God) — yet three names!

JESUS — That Jesus, as the only-begotten Son of God,
actually claimed to be God, equal with the Father,
is clear from numerous Scriptures.

For example, He said:

“I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord,
which is, and which was, and which is to come,
the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).

HOLY SPIRIT — Some cults falsely teach
that the Holy Spirit is an impersonal divine influence of some kind,
but the Bible teaches that He is a real person, just as are the Father and the Son.

Jesus said:

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,
he will guide you into all truth:
for he shall not speak of himself;
but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak;
and he will show you things to come”
(John 16:13).

TRI-UNITY — The teaching of the Bible concerning the Trinity might be summarized thus.
God is a Tri-unity, with each Person of the Godhead equally and fully and eternally God.

Each is necessary,

and each is distinct,

and yet all are one.

The three Persons appear in a logical, causal order.

The Father is the unseen, omnipresent Source of all being,
revealed in and by the Son,
experienced in and by the Holy Spirit.

The Son proceeds from the Father, and the Spirit from the Son.
With reference to God's creation, the Father is the Thought behind it,
the Son is the Word calling it forth, and the Spirit is the Deed making it a reality.

We “see” God and His great salvation in the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ,
then “experience” their reality by faith, through the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit.

Though these relationships seem paradoxical,
and to some completely impossible,
they are profoundly realistic, and their truth is ingrained deep
in man's nature.
Thus, men have always sensed first the truth that God must be “out there,” everywhere present
and the First Cause of all things,

but they have corrupted this intuitive knowledge of the Father into pantheism and ultimately into naturalism.

Similarly,
men have always felt the need to “see” God in terms of their own experience and understanding,
but this knowledge that God must reveal Himself has been distorted into polytheism and idolatry.

Men have thus continually erected “models” of God, sometimes in the form of graven images,
sometimes even in the form of philosophical systems purporting to represent ultimate reality.

Finally,
men have always known that they should be able to have communion with their Creator
and to experience His presence “within.”

But this deep intuition of the Holy Spirit has been corrupted into various forms
of false mysticism and fanaticism, and even into spiritism and demonism.

Thus, the truth of God's tri-unity is ingrained in man's very nature,
but he has often distorted it and substituted a false god in its place.
