Reunion

....I was in line at the grocery when I noticed who was standing in front of me. I immediately thought of just casually walking away. Maybe she wouldn't see me. I always expected this to happen at some point...but not today. Instead I decide to say "Hey stranger". She turns to see...surprised to see it's me.

We talk briefly...catching up on the years we've been apart. Her job just recently gave her a promotion. I ask about her dogs. " They're doing great" she says as she glances at her watch. Suddenly....and without thinking....I blurt out the question I've been dying to ask her for years....

"Do you ever miss me?"

Without hesitation she says...."Absolutely not!"

OUCH buddy!!!!

That certainly is a HUGE blow! However, I do not know how long it has been since your last "encounter" with her. If less than 2 years, I would not have expected any less. Now, if it has been over 10 years... well, it really does not make a difference. That certainly was not the first thing I would have said. Sorry LOL.

Boy, I wish I could have been your "wing man" during those 10 seconds. At least I could have either attempted to prevent you from saying such, or added ".... that one time at that party?". Or something along those lines just to prevent the unfortunate discomfort you may have experienced at that moment.

If this was an actual experience, I feel bad buddy, and can only say that my emotions too speak out quicker than my mind, and can only hope that perhaps you may have "at the least?" learned your lesson. I certainly have in my past too dealt with this. However, that is within my own story/poem. LOL
