Three Israelis who care enough to try and make a difference; I am speaking about those that are about to sail to Gaza on the Humanitarian Flotillas…. despite threats from both the Israeli and US governments …

*
The first is Yonatan Shapira, a crew member on the Audacity of Hope ….
*

*
In his own words … I was a captain in the Israeli Air Force and a Black-Hawk Pilot until 2003 when together with other pilots I initiated the pilots’ letter and refused to take part in the crimes of the occupation. Today I am a member of Boycott, a group of Israeli citizens who are actively supporting the Palestinian call for Boycott Divestment and Sanctions from within. I have a Master degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, I facilitate dialogue groups and volunteer as a sailing instructor for children with disabilities. I’ve been sailing since I was a child and in September of 2010 I was a crew member on the Jewish boat to Gaza that was intercepted by the Israeli Navy. I work as a commercial pilot in the US and am still dreaming to be a musician.
*

*
The second is Amira Hass, journalist for HaAretz. Her work frequently appears on this site. She is a passenger on board the Canadian ship to Gaza, ‘The Tahrir’, named after the now famous Square in Egypt.

*

*
Her first report, Fear and no clean clothing: Amira Hass preparing to sail for Gaza can be read HERE.
*
Last, but not least is a dear friend, another frequent contributor to this Blog, Joseph Dana. Joseph has joined the passengers on the American Boat as well. His first report from Athens can be read HERE.
*

*
About Joseph; (from his Blog) Joseph Dana, a journalist and writer based in Tel Aviv and Ramallah, is a contributing editor to the independent web magazine +972. His work has appeared in The Nation, Le Monde Diplomatique, The National, Tablet Magazine, Al Jazeera English The Jewish Daily Forward and Haaretz. His reporting from the West Bank has been cited in the New York Times, the Guardian and the BBC. Dana is a regular media commentator with appearances on Al Jazeera English, BBC Arabic and National Public Radio.

Hey, I am all for it if and IF there is no weapons on board (smuggling activities) like so many "Humanitarian Aid" ships claim to be NOT carrying.

If this is Israel reaching out then I again am all for it. If it is just a few concerned Jews trying top lay the olive branch of peace down AGAIN I am all for it.

But they had better honor the flotilla blockading Gaza and do as they say and allow their ship to be inspected. I would be pissed if this was just another attempt at the Liberal Agenda to antagonize Israel.

It sucks when people use any excuse to bait Israel and people do bad things behind the scenes while claiming to be peaceful.

I sincerely hopes this action helps mend fences and end the stupidity that prevails in the area!

I call it the "Audacity of Hoping for Conflict" boat.

Three misguided simpletons are allowing themselves to
be used for a Hamas publicity stunt.

Just another of the multiple threads you have posted
on the same subject as a form of advertisement for this
cruise to get Hamas free access to weapons to kill
civilians.

Bash bash bash Israel...no good reasons...just bash hate
bash Israel...ignore much worse atrocities in Iran and
throughout Arab held Islamic countries in the mideast...

There are a lot of ways in which you could
really help bring peace to the region but
instead you all choose to waste your time
by trying to make it safe and easy for the
terrorists to rearm themselves with more
powerful and deadly innocent civilian weapons.

laugh

What a waste!

whoa What you call terrorism, the American government used to call "freedom fighting". (this is back when the US regime was sponsoring muslim militias to attack the Soviets) The US policy of aggression and intervention in mideast affairs has created more "terrorists" and "terrorist" wanna-be's than Osama bin Laden ever could have. (then there's the Israel lobby with plenty of blood on its hands, but that's another story)

BS.

Terroism is intentionally targeting innocent civilians to
try to kill as many innocent people as possible.

Freedom fighters do not need terrorist tactics.

It sounds to me that this man has led a verry rewarding life and is nobodys fool.

A black hawk piolot a fool? A masters degree? and volunteers to help handicaped kids on the side? shame on you for calling him a misguided simpleton.

What are your credentials?

If he thinks that supporting Hamas attempts to arm themselves and
attack innocent civilians is honorable or noble then well yeah!

It is pretty obviously not a good way toward peace to assist the
terrorists in obtaining heavy weapons. But somebody sold him a
rather large pile of brown nonsense. Or possibly he fell out of
his Blackhawk onto his head. Or maybe he has a grievance with the
government in Israel and has decided to try to get back at them
in this way.

Who knows? But it certainly is not a path to peace. It is a
voyage of folly to confrontation and for nothing. Foolish.

And what astounding bravery! He has stopped fighting terrorists
with his fellow neighbors and countrymen and now rides Hamas
boats to nowhere.

I will think of it as misguided.
