Topic: Worrying? | |
---|---|
I worry so much. What can I do to stop worrying? Fear, worry, stress and anxiety are not from the Lord. If you feel these emotions, you are not fully trusting the Lord to handle your troubles. Every person struggles with these feelings when he should relinquish a problem into the Lord’s care. When relying on one’s own strength, fear and doubt arise naturally. But, when you truly cast your cares upon the Lord, you can rest easy in His comforting arms. Even if you don’t mean it at first, verbally turn your worry over to God. Speak the words, “Lord, I give this issue in my life to You. I place it in Your keeping for I know that You are in control.” Then, every time worry and doubt begin to creep in, say those words again. Eventually, you will find that you have to do that less and less. Then, take it one step further. First Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Why would you want to thank God for your problems? James explains it this way, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” God has a plan for your life and, sometimes, He must work out that plan in you through adversity. Are you willing to let God mold you and shape you according to His will? “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall” (Psa. 55:22). wwww.raptureready.com |

Going M.I.L.E.S with God
“…If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” – John 8:31-32, kjv The statistics tell an alarming story of the rate of divorce in marriages across the world today. But equally alarming is the rate at which many a believer are either in “separation” or seeking “divorce” from the Lord as a result of daunting challenges of life in our world today. Jesus warned, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold; But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Matt.24:12-13) M ake up your mind to continue in the Lord whatever may come your way. The Christian race is a battle ground, not a picnic ground. There is a devil out there seeking to devour your faith and your life. Our Lord Jesus made it clear: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NLT) I nvest time in the word of God and in prayer. God’s word is the food that strengthens and sustains our souls and our faith; without adequate intake of the word, we grow weak in faith and faint. “Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed” (Joshua 1:8, NLT) Prayer on the other hand is our key to living free of worry and anxiety, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (Phil.4:6-7, NLT) L ove the Lord sincerely and wholeheartedly. And learn to love the people the Lord has placed around you, especially those of the household of faith. Love for God is shown through our obedience to His word and instructions, “If you love me, obey my commandments” (Jn.14:15) Love for people is however demonstrated through our willingness to make sacrifices for them, “ Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions…” (1Jn.3:18, NLT) E xamine your life and your doctrine daily. Backsliding, like tooth decay, never happens at once; it often begins with just a little carelessness or negligence, When this goes on for long without detection, it leads to breakdown in relationship with our Lord and king. Spiritual self examination or auditing is a great exercise to attempt if going the distance with God is becoming a challenge. Paul admonished Timothy to “Keep a close watch on yourself and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right, and God will save you and those who hear you” – 1Tim.4:16 S erve the Lord with all you are and all you have; “…be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you…” (1Sam.12:24, NIV). When we think of His goodness and mercies unto us, it becomes a natural thing to do. But when we focus on life’s daunting challenges, we find more reasons to grumble and complain. The Lord is always good to His people, even if you are yet to see it. At time many are either falling away or drawing back from faith, may we seek His grace to help us go miles with God. “Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But those who endure to the end will be saved” – Matthew 24:12-13, NLT Going M.I.L.E.S with God March 14, 2010 www.thebasictruth.com |

Matthew 6:31-34 Do not worry, nor be anxious For what you'll eat or wear For God knows just what we need So we need not live in fear We needn't strive, nor seek these things For God provides what we need And we shall live in His provision From His Abundance, we shall feed So do not worry about tomorrow Just take one day at a time For tomorrow has worries of its own We need to leave it behind We need to seek God's kingdom first Then all these things will be given Also to seek His righteousness And keep our eyes on Heaven © By M.S.Lowndes http://www.heavensinspirations.com/scripture-poetry.html |
