So as most of you know im not a huge video game nerd, but I do enjoy playing video games. I have a PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, 360, Nintendo 64, Game Cube and others.

I do enjoy the new game systems, but honestly I miss and prefer the old cartridge based systems. I had more fun playing classic NES, SNES and Genesis more then I do the new systems. Those games were a lot of fun.

I think my all time favorite is Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES. I was stoked to find out recently about the aftermarket systems they are producing that play the classic cartridges. I actually oredered two different ones. The first one has three cartridge slots one for NES, one for SNES and one for Genesis. It also plays G-Factor games(I don't know what they are, if anyone knows please tell me). I was stoked! They also use the Genesis controller slot where you can use classic Sega controllers with it. It also comes with two Genesis style controllers and a Light Gun identical to the classis Nintendo gun!

The second one I got is also a 3 cartridge system. It does the NES, SNES and Genesis controllers. It also comes in either Red or Blue or Grey. The benefit to this system is that it comes with two Genesis style wireless controllers and an S-Video slot, which actually does make the graffics a little better. The other advantage is that it has six controller prots. Two for classic NES controllers, two for Classic SNES controllers and two classic Genesis controller ports in addition to the two wireless controllers it comes with.

Both syytems were under $50.00 each! There's also a locally owned game store here that you can buy all the classic games new and used(they guarantee them for life!). I was able to buy some classics last week like the original Final Fantasy for the NES, Super Mario Brothers 3, Duck Hunt, Duck Tales, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Legend of Zelda(Gold Cartridge) Baseball Stars, Major League Baseball, Akari Warriors and many others. Most of them were between two and five dollars.

Man I forgot how much I missed those games. I have been playing them non stop for a week straight.

I am going to go back in there next week, anyone have any classic games they reccommend? What are some of your favorites? I am thinking of getting Super Mario Brothers 2, Double Dribble, Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, Contra, The Karate Kid and Yo Noid!

I just noticed this one. It is a portable SNES handheld. You can also hook it up to the TV and use it as a system!

I am definately getting it!

I actually still own all of my old systems...

Super Pong, Telegames (Atari), Commodore Vic-20, NES, Genesis (and Sega-CD), Turbo Grafix 16, X-Box and PS2.

I moved to PC gaming back in the mid-90's.

Game recommendations...

Jungle Strike or Desert Strike
Earthworm Jim
Any of the NHL series (Genesis version is much better than SNES though)
NCAA Footbal series
Top Gun
Duck Hunt

I preferred the Genesis to the NES/SNES. The Nintendo platform almost always censored the blood n' guts at the time.

Man I am jealous! My Turbo Grafx 16 stopped working a few years ago. I would love to get another one with a few games. I wish they would make an aftermarket one like they did with the NES, SNES and the Sega Genesis. I loved Splatterhouse and JJ and Jeff. Do you own either of those? If not I reccomend you try and obtain them both. JJ and Jeff is funny as hell.

I heard you can download some Turbo Grafx games on the Wii though......

I really liked the first NHL game on the NES and I loved Top Gun!

It was their aim to be family friendly I think. I think their first game they showed blood and guts was Mortal Kombat.

All though there was a spy\action game for the NES, I cant remember the title off hand where the main character hooks up with a woman and it alleges they have sex. I wish I could remember which one it was, i'd love to get it again.

Also there was a game that came with the Genesis when I got it. It actually came with two, a Sonic game and a boxing game. I wish I could remember the boxing game because it was fun and I would really love to get it again. You should look into one of the systems I postes, it plays all the Genesis games I have tried so far.

The Pong game you have, is it the Atari Flashback? If so, does it work ok? I am thinking about getting it. Here is what I am talking about, please let me know.

Damn, thats sweet. You own that one?

I also have always wanted a couple of actual arcade style games. I would love to get one of those coffee table arcade games either Donkey Kong or Pac-Man. I would also like to try and find Mad Dog McCree. That was a revolutionary game and was awesome.

I just found on Amazon two different handheld Genesis systems, simular to the Nomad but they each come with 20 games loaded on to them plus a cartridge slot for under $40.00.

I wonder how good they are.

This triple system is still holding up really awesome. It is, in my opinion worth more then I paid for it!

The systems still holding up strong. I have over 60 hours on it playing Final Fantasy 3. Havent ran into any glitches or crashes, which is unusual for an aftermarket system. I definately reccomend this to everyone!

Major Genesis fan here. Mostly the Phantasy Star series and for a shooter Thunderforce 3. Now a days I use mostly emulators (Genesis, SNES, and MAME) but I do have a Vectrex in working condition.
