Keeping an eye on all the flood prep. here. From what I am seeing, I think the govt. is more nervous than they let on. Lots of sandbagging around big business & govt. buildings. We loose a leeve, the area could get 2-10 ft of water through town. Glad I live on a hill side. Wish we could send some water to Viv.

Don't know what you all are seeing on the news. Missouri river drainage system has WAY to much water, that needs to pass thru. Still record snow on the ground in the mountains, heavy rains adding to the mess, all dams are full & doing emergency discharges. Word is river will be above flood stage, poss. till december or longer. Levees already failing, record high water, with the crest not to hit for 2 more days, under present conditions. Sudden rapid snow melt or more heavy rains in the northwest, will just make matters worse. Interstate 29, closed at 2 places, so far with more closings forecast. Omaha/Council Bluffs sandbagging city buildings & seriously worried about the future. Calling this a 500 year flood.

Our NBC (WHOTV.com), and CBS (KCCI.com) stations are doing a great job covering it and asking for voluteers. After our big flood of '93 I think we all are pretty sympathetic. No water for days on end will do that...ya know the old saying, "water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink." Hoping for the best going your way Don. |

Yikes....it sure sounds interesting....are you high and dry? I am so "high & dry"...but if the flood comes, I will get the binocs. & watch things float south. On the radio, today, somebody mentioned building a pipe line, going to the southwest, for emergency's like this. |
