Shadows upon tears


Into the darkness she flees.
The children still in their pajamas.
Finding shelter this night in a cheap hotel.
A mother empties her purse out across the table.
A fragile attempt in organizing her life.

Shadows upon tears

Bruised beaten but determined to survive.
The echoes of the arguments radiate in her mind, and out into
the darkness.
No plans for tomorrow, and no job in sight.
Still, freedom cries out for a new day, and a new life.
The child feel the uncertainty of their mothers tears.

Shadows upon tears

Her husband now feels the silence of the house.
Sitting there still drunk, a broken shell within a abyss of emptiness.
He scratches down a apology on the back of a wedding picture.
His poor attempt of words can't makeup for seven years of her imprisonment.
Pulls the trigger, and steps into silence.
His blood screams out for his eternal judgement upon the wall behind him.

Shadows upon tears

The dawn finds her free within a new day.
She smiles at the uncertainty in front of her.
Life now begins, life now begins.....
