I'm not a metal guy. I'm a hopeless romantic guy. But maybe not THAT hopeless....I hope.

And I could only like metal when I'm really freaking mad, which is what I'm not right now. Seether and Linkin Park take care of my needs just fine.

So have you given up on women? Yeah I know that's not metal, didn't say it was, like I said I'm not angry or bitter so I don't have any interest in that screaming stuff, I like lyrics not wailing.

Have I given up? Not entirely, but getting there! And metal there are lyrics, just not all wailing. Sure, may sound like it, but they are actually saying something. And not all metal screams..ie Slayer

Neil Diamond, great singer and good song. Ive been been separated for a year and divorce for a year, but im not giving up. I wasent ready to be with anybody just yet I needed some time to myself. Thats probly what you need some time for yourself. But I believe i am ready to start dating again. Music does help, but you need to leason to the ones that would make you feel lonely. Just hang in there, someone will come along. Take care.

I do know they are saying something, and I'm very into the music itself and not just the lyrics, for example even if the lyrics are really really good and I can relate to them intensely, then if the music itself isn't good (to me) then I won't like the song at all. But you shouldn't give up, no one should. It's better to die having tried than live given up.

Well Neil Diamond is okay, he's kinda "old" for me, but I stumbled across this song and it resonated with me. Oh man that sounds really hard, I'm sorry mickielo. Divorce sucks. Well yeah sometimes we all need to be alone, but I've been alone long enough, right now I feel like I'm really missing out on life so I'm trying to live more. Yeah I have a bad habit of making bad times worse by listening to sad songs, but in a way it's therapeutic and better than bottling everything up inside. Thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it.

that's an old school theme song of mine. now, off to the metal bar i go.

I listened to that song and also like it, but definitely prefer Solitary Man much more. But this one was really sad and I could sort of feel his pain, like at the end of the video I saw it on his face, I caught the part about the frog...he's been catapulted to stardom and people love his music, like a frog into a king, but he's still lonely and people clapping for him isn't enough, it's not personal enough...that's why I would hate being idolized instead of loved. I feel sorry for idols. I really do.

reminds me of this movie i recently saw called 'the wrestler' with mickey rourke........... summed up what you just said perfectly. it was soooooo depressing and sad, he had stardom and missed the boat with his daughter and finding love and when he finally realized how lonely he was, too late. bummer.

Depressing thread with depressing lyrics to a depressing song? How could this not cheer someone up.
