Just wondering if anyone here knows about cell phone problems --

I was using a Motorola TracFone for several years. A couple months ago, I switched to an LG 420G phone, still using TracFone, and I switched all my minutes and service days from the old phone to the new one.

Yesterday morning, it was brought to my attention that no one could call me. People were getting the message "at the subscriber's request, this number is not accepting incoming calls." I never requested this.

I couldn't call out either -- I got a message that said "Your phone has been deactivated. In order to reactivate it, you'll need an airtime PIN card or a credit card." There was no reason for the phone to have been deactivated, as I have plenty of minutes on it and over 2000 service days.

I spent most of yesterday and today on the phone (not my phone, since it doesn't work anymore) with TracFone's customer service. I've talked to eight or nine different people and every one of them has a different explanation for the problem, and they told me yesterday the matter would be resolved within 24 hours. It's well past 24 hours and nothing has been done.

All I know is I either will or will not have to change phone numbers, my SIM card either is or is not incompatible with my current calling area (never mind the fact that the current phone, WITH the current SIM card, worked perfectly until yesterday), the phone either will or will not work if they send me a new SIM card, and the problem either was or was not caused by an issue between AT&T and Tmobile as some sort of provider for TracFone customers.

This is simply an absurd amount of BS to have to try to deal with. I've used TracFones for years and never had any major problems before, but this fiasco more than makes up for years of adequate service.

Can anyone offer any insight as to WHY they would have deactivated my phone in the first place, and why they won't give me any honest answers to my questions?

Most likely they dont know the answer, so each of them give you their own answer in hopes to apease you enough to get you off the phone.
This is a TracPhone plan, as will all of these low cost prepaid plans, you will have to give up something. The average cell phone user goes though a new phone at least once per year, the fact that you have not is a problem for them.

My advise would be to call them and dont hang up until they can call you on your phone and get it working. Threaten to call the attorney generals office if necesary.

Good Luck

Geez Lex, No idea there. I'd ask for a supervisor and go up that way with the threat that you will take it to the internet. Enough people forward it on that TracFone is screwing you over and it may shake them up. That's absolutely ridiculous.

I have a net10 phone. It does not matter how many hours I have on the phone, you have to add new hours every month, once a month or they will deactivate you.

I got mine put on an automatic service where they automatically ad additional hours every month, as long as my cell phone is on at the beginning of the month.

I pay around 26 dollars per month for my phone and new hours get added every month. I have lots of hours as they just add up. I don't use that many hours.

It sounds to me like someone screwed up when transfering your account and now no one can figure out how to fix it. You may have to just set up a new account unfortunately.

Forget about them. Get a virginmobile , they are more dependable. My mom has it and she pays like once in 3 months or something.

here, if you don't want a smartphone just click on the "paylo" that offers cheap phones with cheap plans:
