LOS ANGELES -- Former California governor and action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver have separated after 25 years of marriage, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

"This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us," the couple said in a statement.

"After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship.

"We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives.

"We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public."

This is the first smart thing he has done in a while! Seperate himself from that wench and that cursed and purly evil Kennedy Family.

Too late, he should have done that when he was governor, he may have made some better decisions for that state.

i had the pleasure to be hired by arnold to fly his first executive jet in the early nineties. found he and maria to be fine people BOTH undeserving of such partisan politcal bullsh1t as this, especially when it comes to their personal lives. perhaps you folks know the couple better i suppose. if not, and you've taken a side on this very personal situation because of your political leanings, you're a big part of the problem in american politics today. truely pathetic people. shame on you.

Divorce is a tragedy. It's terribly painful for those involved and especially their young children.

Nope I was stating what a wicked and evil family the Kennedy's are and that Arnold is lucky to be out of their grips. They are a family no different then the Gambino crime family. They made their money from bootlegging, racketeering, prostitution, violating the RICO act, gambling and organized crime.

you haven't answered my question which was what does all this political crAp have to do with the breakup of the couple. politics seems to be a part of everything in many americans lives today. i see friends lost, kids estranged from parents, marriage breakups, all becuase people allow their political persuasion to rule their lives. this thread is the perfect example. you state that arnold has finally done right, referring to his political wrongs, by separating from maria as though it was all over politics. these issues become big issues only because people like you make it an issue. we wouldn't have had to endure the f***ing royal wedding all over the news if people didn't make a big deal of it just as you're doing here. unhappily, or in your case happily i suppose, two fine people are going through a rough spot in their family lives and you come up with this bull. the founding fathers where truely brilliant when they wrote the electoral college into article two of the constitution. can you imagine people who get hung up on royal weddings on tv or hollywood marriages actually choosing the leader of the free world????
