I'm wondering if it wouldn't also be helpful for a mature woman to know exactly the same things?

I read down the list and was ticking them off for myself... laugh

I think it's a good list but rather than seeing it as a list of expectations I think it should be used as a personal checklist as Jess had suggested

or a maturity checklist - if you can undertand this list and the guy you're seeing cannot???? ummm....may be time to rethink some things:wink:

and most if not all of the items on the list can apply to both genders - a few of them I see as applying mostly to men - like knowing female erogenous zones and plumbing:wink:

Perhaps you'd like to explain manhood to me, since you think Im offended.

Truth is: let women define manhood and we get "Nice Guys"; the kind you don't want
because their wishy-washy milkly-toast amoebas.

No fire in the belly, no guts, no will, your favorite door mat.

Now do you think Men should define Womanhood? Am I qualified?

Do you want a man or a robot? Those are pretty ambitious expectations! It is too much for any human being!

2. How to change a tire, a diaper and a womans mind.

I'd argue this on the grounds that there is not now, nor will there ever be, any reason for me to know how to change a diaper. As for changing a woman's mind, I don't see that as my job.

4. Your capacity for intimacy and alcohol

I find it a little disturbing that these are linked in this way. But then I don't drink, so I guess my capacity for alcohol is zero.

7. At least one woman whose love for you besides your mother is enduring and substanstial

It would be nice, but I haven't got it. Does that make me immature? I don't know....

14. How to fast and slow dance.

I can't think of anything more irrelevant to my life. Except maybe changing a diaper.

20. How to make money, dinner, conversation and love.

I can't cook at all, and it doesn't matter.

28. At least one true friend who will be there for you whenever you call

Again, it would be nice but I don't have that. I really don't see how that makes me immature, per se.

29. The ten commandments

I'd argue this one, too. Religion = maturity? I see some problems there.

30. The fundamental workings of the female psych

If men knew this, we wouldn't have all these problems.

33. Your way around a kitchen

I'm fine as long as I don't bump into the table.

35. How to open a bottle of champagne

No thanks.

36. What really matters

37. What doesn't.

Diapers, champagne, cooking, and dancing don't matter to me. Now I've thrown a wrench into the whole equation.

38. the power and magic of a good woman.

I'll let you know when one turns up.

39. What other people think of you.

They're gonna think what they're gonna think. If I wasted any time worrying about it, I'd never get anything done.

40. Your own needs and another persons ability to fulfill them.

I know my own needs and I know no one has the ability to fulfill them. So I guess I got one point, anyway.

I think that list is a bit out there but however it is only one person's opinion and doesn't speak for all women.

Thanks, Bry. I mean, what's the message here? "You're not mature unless you conform to MY priorities." How does THAT work? I could make up a bunch of arbitrary stipulations, too, and say you're not mature or you're not worthwhile or you're not productive or whatever unless you conform to MY standards, but that wouldn't prove anything except that I was intolerant and had an overblown view of my own value system.

I guess I just don't see myself as being in a position to tell people how to be mature. I have my own perception of what that means and I really have no desire to impose it on anybody else.
